A great adventure story from a master raconteur

Full Moon over Noah's Ark is another fine memoir from Rick Antonson. It's also an adventure story. And a valuable geography lesson. Antonson, a travel writer by profession, has taken to crafting adventures for himself beyond the confines of five-star hotels and expense accounts. In Full Moon he determines to "summit" the fabled Mt. Ararat in Eastern Turkey. It's fabled for being the alleged site of Noah's ark, for being treacherously difficult to climb, and for being at the center of a territorial dispute between Turkey and Armenia. Antonson has a companionable way of introducing us to the rigors of mountain climbing, the pleasures of new friends, and the tragedies of countries in centuries-old conflict. He seems to have a knack for making friends everywhere he goes, whether it's a cab driver smuggling contraband or a grandfather hitching a ride for the heck of it. This book gave me a new perspective on the countries of the Middle East and their amazing people.

Another exciting travel tale from Rick Antonson

I had a chance to read an early copy of this book. Much like his other books, author Rick Antonson provides just the right amount of travelogue, humour and history in Full Moon over Noah's Ark. Lots of vivid details bring the region to life, and the history that is cleverly woven into the narrative is thought-provoking and just plain interesting.

I highly recommend this book, as well as his others - Route 66 Still Kicks and To Timbuktu for a Haircut in particular are both great reads.

Made a choice

I had a choice between buying Antonson and buying Breitbart. But I found Breitbart to be too misogynistic, racist, fascist, xenophobic and anti-democratic. So I rejected it. And I urge Amazon.com to reject Breibart too!
