I bought this for loved one who lost a limb a few years ago and he was stoked when he saw he cover.
As for the content, I thought a fake strategy guide was an odd choice, but as I've been perusing it I realized, oh no, this is my jam. Nostalgia crept up in me and I started remembering other guidebooks like this I read as wee one. This book conjured up the same joy I got as a kid obsessing over the illustrations and learning the secrets held within.

Really does feel like the strategy guides for games i read that I never played myself (my cousin played a lot of games and had the guides for a decent amount of them. I always loved reading through them and catching glimpses of where he was when I sat and watched him play) If I could give this more stars I would. I really wish this was a real game because I would play it over and over again. Truly wishing for a sequel. 10/10

The fake guide of my dreams

I was a kid whose parents said no to video game consoles but yes to books, soooo video game guides it was!!

This book has the all the spirit of the guides of yore, combined with the love of the guides as awesome texts in and of themselves.

The characters, story, power ups, bosses, etc were on point. Good disability, POC, LGTBQ+ rep. And kitties!!

Feels like a game you missed out on in your youth.

The art looks great in print and the artist really gets the slightly off impressions of the NPCs descriptions across well in how they hold themselves. The monsters and items have the same level of care in their renditions while the writing tells just enough that the further you go the more you put together yourself. Found myself throughly entertained and I'm happy to have in on my shelf.

I’m in love. It has the vibe of EarthBound/Mother but also Eastward. I love the character development, and the subtle and major level of inclusivity and diversity of the characters, NPCs, and bosses. It’s not a playable game but I’ll remember it in my heart like it is. I already am mocking up an Esther cosplay. And I mean, it was made by Adam Ellis. Of course it’s amazing. With a dash of sass.
