Description

From Postcard Reviews Jun 2020 -xa0These cute and gorgeous designs will make every bedtime something to look forward to for every child.xa0Made in two sizes.. Ages 2 - 4 and 5 - 7, they have a character theme from favourite childhood stories.xa0The technique guide makes it easy for even a beginner of crochet to be able to make a blanket and I loved the added embellishments such as bunting and pom poms. The photography is amazing, it will encourage and inspire you to have a go and create something fun.I'm sure each design can be adapted for a unique style for your child's individuality, but each one is clever and imaginative.Along with crochet techniques, there are suggestions for varying the yarn colour to create a different character (changing a polar bear into a brown bear, for example) and you can choose between a rounded or a pointed hood. Lynne has also designed a strip of matching bunting to accompany each project. Every blanket tells a story, with pockets on the sides for snuggly paws and different tails. Perfect for unwinding for a bedtime story and animating the oral tradition of storytelling little listeners, as well as their parents, will find themselves enchanted. 5/5 Inspirations Newsletter - July 2020Our minds have turned to blankets, and we have got the perfect book if you’re planning on starting a cosy blanket for that little person in your life. Lynne Rowe’s ‘ Fairytale Blankets to Crochet ’ is filled with easy-to-hook, corner-to-corner projects which simply explode with cuddle-factor!xa0It doesn’t matter what they’re into – unicorns, wolves, dragons or princesses, one of these hooded blankets will surely suit. Each project includes a pattern for matching bunting, so the lucky recipient can decorate their room before snuggling down with their blanket and their favourite story.xa0Any child would be enchanted to receive one of these crocheted blankets, there’s no doubt. But there’s probably an adult or two out there who would be just as eager to cuddle up with a really good book, a hot cup of tea and a snuggly warm fairytale blanket over their knee. Just don’t tell the kids… The Loopy Lamb - August 2020Fairytale Blankets to Crochet is written using UK crochet terminology but a UK to US term conversion chart and a list of stitch abbreviationsis are availabe via a flap inside the front cover of the book. This is the first time that I’ve seen a flap utilized in this manner in a crochet book and I can definitely see how this could be handy! The flap can be used as a book mark or, keep it over top of the page you’re working on for a handy reference any time you need it. No flipping back to the reference section for you! It goes with you wherever you go in this book.xa0The book is bright, colourful and whimsical. My kids have not left me alone about making them each a blanket since I took the book out of the book so I’d personally call the patterns “kid-approved”. Lynne Rowe was taught to knit and crochet by her nan in her early childhood and has been hooked ever since. She has developed a wide range of specialist skills and loves to pass these on to others through her workshops and classes. She is best known for her whimsical designs which feature regularly in the UK's most popular craft magazines, along with articles and technical guides. Her practical approach makes her patterns straightforward, easy to read and fun to make and her aim is to encourage as many people as possible to knit and crochet. Beautiful, unique blankets for toddlers/young children

Beware, this book is not really for beginners, also uses UK terms (though not that difficult to translate). It really has some beautiful patterns, and would make a wonderful, unique gift. Would recommend, just be patient if you are a beginner

Blankets are cute, patterns are easy and detailed

The patterns in this book are so cute and the instructions appear to be easy and detailed. I have the yarn to make my grandson a dragon blanket and will be starting that soon. After that, maybe Little Red Riding Hood for my granddaughter. All the other patterns look like fun too.

Challenges you

If you’re new to crochet then this book may not be for you. I had this book for a year before I made this blanket for my nephew. Because I didn’t use the same yarn, I had to make some adjustments which was fine. After I figured out how to do a corner to corner stitch, then it was easy after that but I had to watch YouTube videos to understand. Some of the directions are confusing but for me what helped was that I had to slow way down to try and understand what was being said. I wish there were more pictures but overall I like this book and I plan on making another blanket.

Only giving it three stars because

I love the book, and all the patterns on it. I’m only giving it three stars because nowhere in the description that I saw (I could have missed it) did it say that it was corner to corner crochet. I don’t know how to do corner to corner Crochet, and if I missed it that's my fault. But the directions in it, to tell you how to do it or not that clear (at least to me.) Other than that I love the book, I can’t wait to learn how to do corner to corner so I can use the book

Cute but not sure it’s worth the money.

This book has cute blankets but I’m not sure it’s worth the money. Seems like a pattern from ETSY or directly from the designer would be easier to use. The blankets follow pretty much one pattern with slight variations. I thought each blanket would have their own pattern written instead of having to flip to the beginning to find the blanket pattern, then flip to another section for the directions. I have not used it yet because I’m not sure I have the patience yo search for what I’m supposed to do when.

Cute!

I didn't know it when I bought it but it is done in UK terms but they have a chart at the beginning on how to translate. But it's super easy to figure out. Would recommend for sure I can't wait to dive in and start making them.
