Now she is living a borrowed life, and she doesn't know what to do with the guilt. And every night, Jack appears in her dreams, lost and confused and wasting away. No matter how she tries to reach for his hand, she can never find it. Desperate for answers, Nikki turns to Cole, the immortal bad boy who wants to make her his queen—and the one person least likely to help. But his heart has been touched by everything about Nikki, and he agrees to assist in the only way he can: by taking her to the Everneath himself. Nikki and Cole, along with Cole's bandmate Max, descend into the Everneath, only to discover that their journey will be more difficult than they'd anticipated—and more deadly. From a Lake of Blood and Guilt to Sirens' alluring tricks to insurmountable walls of rock and flame, the trio is given every reason to give up. But Nikki vows to stop at nothing to save Jack—even if it means making an incredible sacrifice of her own. hmmmm

a bit disappointed with how the book looks. first the pictures and words on the spine of the book overlap onto the front cover and back cover. the book looks weird like that. another thing the books spine also had scratches at the bottom and top. when i ordered the first one it came in perfectly with no scratches. i also did not like how the book is shinny/glossy.

Love this series!

This, the third book in the Everneath series, is absolutely terrific! Certainly not a let down at all.

The mythology created within the pages of these books is impressive. So many myths are contained within, but they have brand new meanings and directions. The author has a brilliant way of making the old mythologies that are so well known and making them brand new and all her own, in a perfect way. The characters come to life and you really get to feeling like you know each and every single one of them so well. I don't want to give anything away about this book because I'm hoping you'll read it and have read those leading up to it (and some really cool stuff happens in here that I'm afraid I'll accidently mention if I am not careful) but I will say it's really hard to know who to trust and what exactly is going on in Everneath, which is explored thoroughly in this book.

This series has been exceptionally good thus far and I'm both excited and full of dread as I prepare to start the last book. Excited because of what this book ended with (major jaw dropper) and dread for the obvious that it's the last book.

Loved it!

I really enjoyed the first book to this series, Everneath. I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did! It was constantly throwing curve balls, and I enjoyed every second of this book! I can't wait to get my hands on the next one.

I would recommend book one as a standalone.

I love Brodi Ashton and this series, and I highly recommend the first book to anyone who likes speculative fiction and romance. But the beauty and ambiance created by Ashton's first book was not in this one. In fact, it read to me more as a first draft where the author was scribbling down ideas without an outline and hasn't yet gone through and fleshed out the parts that I wanted to hear and see more while cutting some of the duller moments. It had an "and then, and then, and then," sort of story line where the characters would find out they need something (usually via a deus ex machina professor who accepted that the things he had been studying as myth were real a little too readily) and then go and get it, come back, realize they needed something else, and then repeat.

In the series, there are two male love interests, Cole, an immortal who has fallen madly in love with her, but tricked her and manipulated her in the past, and then Jack, a meat headed jock who she's loved all her life. In this end to the series, the waters have calmed and Nikki knows how she feels about both; there is no doubt who she will end up with, and so the tension and romance isn't there. I've never liked Jack very much and in this book his character seemed even less fleshed out. (Spoiler alert until end of this paragraph) Cole, however, is completely stripped of his personality by amnesia and made into a kind and innocent child, which was completely unlikable for me.

While anyone interested in the series should definitely pick up the first book, I seriously don't recommend reading the sequels. Book Two was fine with an epic twist ending that I seriously didn't see coming (even though I should have), but it had also been tedious for the majority, and I got through it assuming it would follow the pattern of most trilogies and pick back up for the third. I am very disappointed with this ending.

Exciting read

Did not see that ending coming at all!

Everbound had a bit of a slow start for me. It did take a little to get into but once I was in I was completely absorbed. It became fast-paced and exciting and I just couldn't put it down!

I am loving the storyline of this series and its originality. I love that it touches base with real mythology but also has a real creativity to it. The author is just awesome!

Enjoyed it much more than the first!

Review originally posted on The Book Addict's Guide

Compared to EVERNEATH, I found EVERBOUND to be leaps and bounds more enjoyable. Was it stellar? The answer that for me is still no, but I really got into the sequel much more than the original. I think part of it was the fact that I actually read the physical copy of this book instead of the audiobook (I was in a constant fight with the narrator of the EVERNEATH. It just wasn’t enjoyable) and I got to hear the voices as I pictured them sounding.

I found EVERBOUND to be a lot more exciting than its predecessor since in book two, we get to learn a lot more about the Everneath in general as well as the abilities and activities of all of the “beings” that reside there, including Everlivings like Cole. I was much more excited than the first book and was really captivated with all of the new ideas and explanations. EVERBOUND was much more action-packed and we really get further into the mythology side of the book.

I’m still so-so on Nikki’s character. For the first half of the book, I couldn’t help but compare her to Bella in New Moon – completely lost, utterly alone, and really depressed after losing her love interest. It was kind of annoying to read and okay, I get that you love him and you’d do anything to get him back, but the way it was written was bothering me and that whole deal just didn’t translate well from words to feelings for me.

NOW I get what people are saying with “OMG that ending!” because seriously – As a person who wasn’t entirely thrilled about the series to begin with, yes. OMG, that ending!!!! If I could rate the ending alone? It would have been five stars, hands down. As a whole? Not quite as spectacular for me, but definitely better than book one!
