Encyclopedia of Counseling Package: Complete Review Package for the National Counselor Examination, State Counseling Exams, and Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE)

I'm not sure why this study guide gets so many high marks. I just took the exam yesterday. I used this guide and the Wellsreview Guide. I took the NCE Texas version. I passed it, but not because of the Rosenthal guide. The Rosenthal guide teaches you very basic stuff. The practice questions in it are way too easy. It gives you false confidence. It is well written and does have good information. It just won't prepare you for the exam. The audio portion of package is actually a bit better than the book. The real questions on the exam are way more complex. I suppose this book will make good supplemental material for other guides, just don't rely too much on it, I've been out of school for 9 years. I studied for the NCE for 2 months. If you live in Texas look into the Wellsreview guide.

I took the NCE test today for the first time and did well. I'm overjoyed to have passed. I only used Rosenthal's Encyclopedia of Counseling. Right before the exam I also reviewed online flash cards and free practice tests. I honestly believe the study guide was enough though. I purchased it a while ago and reviewed it regularly. I stopped studying for several months and resumed prepping for the exam at the end of June. If you review the material in Rosenthal's Encyclopedia of Counseling, you should do just fine. Good luck.

Excellent study and review for the NCE/CPCE. However, DO NOT rely solely on the review information contained here in order to pass the exam. A student will need to review their course information, textbooks, study notes, etc. to be prepared. What Dr. Rosenthal does well, however, is shine a light on important information for the student to delve into in more depth during independent study.

I would highly recommend the Encyclopedia of Counseling Package: Complete Review Package for the National Counselor Examination, State Counseling Exams, and Counselor Preparation study package. It's an absolute must have especially for those individuals who are not good test takers. I am at early stages of prep for state exam.

Though the DSM information is outdate, overall this resource was critical to my passing the NCE. I recommend it.

CD's are very helpful for studying. Engaging and informative.

One never really knows what they will get when purchasing a study guide. Additionally, the price seemed high at the purchase. All of those fears were laid to rest after acquiring the product...

A must for NCE prep. Rosenthal's style is different from the typical test prep, utilizing humorous and/or practical memory devices, using questions to review other material not related to the question (so that when you get to the unrelated material, you already know the answer), and a folksy manner which makes you feel comfortable and capable. It's as if he is casually hanging out in your living room or car with you, your coach at your beck and call. I always thought I wasn't an auditory learner at all, until getting behind in the book while keeping up with the CDs...when I finally got to the book, I got more questions correct as a result of the CDs. Highly recommend this product.

I really like that it's a package! I enjoy the CD's while I am on the go!
