Excerpt. © Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved. Introduction When people think of fantasy worlds, they always imagine dragons! Majestic and terrifying, mysterious and magical, dragons are at the center of many iconic fantasy stories. Seeking their influence or treasures can lead you to an untold number of epic quests. There’s a reason why the world’s most popular roleplaying game is called Dungeons & Dragons, after all. Dragons are special. This book will show you the vast potential of these mythical winged creatures—from their anatomy and abilities to their legends and enchanted objects. It will tell you about their life cycle and their behaviors, and advise you on how to emerge victorious if you ever face a dragon in battle. Read this book from start to finish, or open it to any spot, be drawn in by the exciting artwork, and start expanding your knowledge from there. The more you discover, the more ideas you’ll have for crafting your own exceptional tales with a distinctly draconic flare. Will the dragons you create terrify the countryside as their massive shadows blot out the sun overhead, or will they be mysterious, hidden allies, guiding your heroes in ways not yet realized? In the end, it’s up to you. Dungeons & Dragons is all about discovery, and your dragon journey is about to take flight!

Best of Series

I DM in Libraies for 12-16 year olds. A few of them have ADHD, This boom has short blurbs, small chapters and excellent illustrations, so it is great for them. But that is not its only use. It is age apprpriate and very interesting. Unlike the others in the series, I could not put it down (I am 57) If you are a D&D DM, no matter what your age, the deep dive in to dragons is a must read. I especially enjoyed the section on which dragons prefer what type of treasure.

The kids love it and I'm impressed by the amount of thought the DnD team put into writing it

My kids have been eagerly waiting for this book for months after having all of the earlier releases. The product exceeded my expectations as it dives deep into the biology, habits and other aspects of dragons. If they ever put it down I plan to read it myself.
These books really impress me - my kids and the neighbors kids run around and play a made-up version of DnD based on the lore from these youth-oriented books. I haven't seen anything that was even borderline inappropriate for their ages and love how the series gets them to think creatively (even when they're running around outside). I strongly recommend all of these books if your (or their) idea of "play" involves any concept of storytelling.
These books synergize well with Harry Potter, the Hobbit and other fantasy stories popular with kids now.

Once again, another great book in the series.

The Young Adventurer's Guide series has always been a favorite of mine, and this latest work is no exception. It's obstensively targeted to new and young D&D players, but the content within will serve players of all ages very well.
This is the book in the series to concentrate on one specific species of D&D monster, and really delivers the goods. Everything from a breakdown to the three types (Chromatic, Metallic, and Gem) to the personality of the different types to tips on how to approach them, from both the Players' and DM's perspective is covered. And the artwork is, as usual, evocative and beautiful.
If you have any interest in D&D, and in especially in one of the core Monster types of the game, get this book!
