The best Manga... EVER!!!!!!

This was the first manga I had ever bought, now I'm hooked! I never really got into the TV series because I didn't watch any of the first episodes, and you can't just jump into the show in the middle, because nothing is really explained. That's why I dicided to get the manga when I found it in a book store.
Dragon Ball Z is a continuation of Dragon Ball, in which Son Goku learns that he is in fact a Sayian, a warrior-like alien race who destroy the inhabitance of planets for profiet, and Goku was to destroy all the humans on Earth. But when he got here he hit his head and lost his memory. Now he must defend his friends and the planet Earth from the 3 remaining Sayians.
I like Dragon Ball Z for its great characters and compeling storyline. And, of course, the ACTION!!! I believe the manga is better than the TV show, because it isn't that slow-paced. In my opinion, this is the best manga and the the best manga for newbie-otakus. If you want the story from the very beginning, I suggest the manga Dargon Ball Vol. 1. That one is more comedy than action, but still very good. Just buy it, you wont regret it. Siutable for ages 9 and up, for mild violence and language (not very much language, mind you).

Torn cover and first page when I opened package.

The books is what I wanted but when I opened the package to give my son the book the front cover was torn as well as the first page. I had to tape it together. That’s the only reason for the one star

My review...

The book I received was in great condition. I actually didn't buy it for myself though. It's a christmas present for my cousin. He has always loved the Dragon Ball series. I actually got Sean Schemmel to sign it also. So I would say it's great, but that's not for me to decide in the long run. :)

The continuation of Dragon Ball !!!

The first volume of DBZ is actually the continuation(not sequel) to the humorous dragonball series(vol.1-16)This one is really volume 17 in the overall story. The manga is vastly superior to the anime since it doesn't drag for too long the battles.Toriyama's original work let's you follow the plot, character development, and fights all in one package.I give this one four, because it only contains the first 10 chapters of DBZ and not twelve which is the average chapters per volume. The first two are in dragonball vol.16 since it closes that anime final arc.

Dissapointed

All of my friends are Dragon ball freaks, and are constantly talking about it so I figured I would try it. About 8 volumes in, i am bored to tears with this series. Its just not good (in my opinion) and is overall poorly written to me. But, I can say that it is very unique and I would suggest it to people who like the more common battle manga like Naruto and one piece.

Great!

Great manga. I think it's funny how it says "All Ages", but contains cursing, cigarettes, and blood. Shouldn't it be rated " Teen"? Doesn't matter to me, though. I hate when DBZ gets censored.

One of my favorite Japanese comics I've ever read

The classic Japanese comic by Akira Toriyama that inspired the anime and video games. Beautiful artwork, awesome action packed fight scenes, great characters, and a great story. In this volume, Piccolo and Goku have to rescue Gohan from the Saiyan Raditz, ending with Piccolo having to use a special attack that kills both Goku and Raditz. Great classic 80's Japanese manga. I love it. Totally epic!
