Could Have Been Really Good, But......

The premise of “Dr. Mitchell” was unusual and interesting, and I was engaged in the story right away. I liked that the story was presented from both Jake’s and Ash’s POV.

There was a lot going on in this book. The storyline was a bit messy, with some 50 characters bouncing around least 12 different settings. There were chapters where the plot slowed to a crawl because of irrelevant excursions down rabbit trails leading to nowhere. Throughout the book Jake and Ash had no problem spouting very steamy language, which was not necessary to the story, and detracted from the decently written love scenes.

I did not get why Jake was besieged by paparazzi and mobbed by the public when all he did was participate in a medical documentary. Sounded a bit far fetched, particularly when the story took place around LA, the celebrity capital of the world.

Grammar, punctuation, and syntax were poorly edited. There were missing words, typos, sentences which made no sense, pronouns used incorrectly, singular and plural verbs misused, awkwardly written sentences and, at times, it was not clear who was speaking. My personal favorite editing snafu: “Well, since you decided to take on someone you screwed a year ago’s dad . . . .” You get my drift.

I received a free ARC of this book from Hidden Gems. My review is voluntary. The opinions are my own.

Chance encounters

Ash is in San Francisco for the weekend to attend a family member's wedding. She crosses paths with handsome stranger "Mitch" 3 times and ends up deciding to have a reckless night with him before heading home She is grieving her mother's death and feels that she owes it to herself.
"Mitch" is actually cardiac surgeon and billionaire Dr. Jake Mitchell who was in town for a medical conference. He is enchanted with Ash and can't stop thinking about her after their night together. A year later they meet once again when Ash's dad has a heart attack and Jake is his surgeon. The chemistry is still there and Jake wants to move on from his playboy past and have an actual relationship with Ash. She is hesitant but can't help falling in love with him. Everything is looking positive for their future until one of Jake's one night stands shows up pregnant. Is the baby his and if so can Zoe still be with him?
I loved this couple and their story. I received an ARC of this book that contained some rather annoying errors that hopefully were picked up by an editor.

Loved it, loved it, loved it!

This is a new author for me and one I've fallen for; Dr Mitchell is such a great book in my opinion, there were so many places that the story could have ended but it just kept giving, so much so that it's well past my bedtime now!

This story has set up what looks to be a great start to a potentially great series, I can not wait to read the rest. I've lost myself in great writing, great characters and so many emotions I feel like I've been on a journey myself. I loved the mix of medical, family, relationships and friendships in this story and I have enjoyed getting to know everyone along the way.

I am really looking forward to reading Jim's story now, I loved his relationship with Jake and how welcoming, accepting, supportive and loving he was to Ash. He deserves to find happiness like his brother and I expect to be taken on a journey with his story too.

I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an ARC.

It had a lot of potential.

I know I'm in the minority for my 2 star rating, but I really couldn't justify a three.

Okay, to start with positives, what did I like? I liked the heroine was strong. Umm, I think that's it. Oh, it does have sex scenes in it, and IMO any, even if not very good, is better than none.

What didn't I like? There were so many things that made me physically cringe from how she described his penis during her internal monologues to different interactions in the dialogues to things they said to each other during their first hook up. The story was so slow I would get distracted by things like my ac switching on while reading and then I'd remember that I needed to pay the bills, and I would stop reading and go pay bills. When I'm into a great book I hear NOTHING, not even my children asking me what I'm cooking for dinner or my husband slamming pots around when he realizes I'm too immersed to actually cook.

My rating of 2 stars means Meh, shoulder shrug.

I received a free copy of this book and am giving my review voluntarily.

I loved it!

I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy but my opinion is my own. This was my first chance at reading a book by Raylin Mark's and I was not disappointed. First, I loved her writing style, the characters were all well developed and it was a fun, easy read.

Ashley is a college drop out who loves art. She loves to paint and wants to open up her own gallery one day, if she ever had the money. Ash is grieving the loss of her mother while worrying about her dad's health.

Jake is a cardiologist, billionaire and playboy. He works long hours at the hospital and does not do relationships.

Jake and Ashley originally meet at a coffee shop in San Francisco while Jake is away on business and Ashley is out of town for a family members wedding. Turns out they both attend the wedding as well. The chemistry between the two is instant. They share the night together and it's a night neither can forget. They are thrust together a year later when Ashley's dad has a heart attack and Jake is the Chief Cardiologist.

As a way to try to start living her life again and not always focusing on her dad, Ashley agrees to go out with Jake. The chemistry is still there between them and over time their relationship grows. He falls hard for Ash and while Ash loves Jake, she is still guarded due to his past.

Will his past come back and tear them apart? If you enjoy romance with drama, angst and humor - you will love this one. I can't wait for Jim's book.

Hot and steamy with a lot of drama and a happy ending

I absolutely loved this story ❤️ it was so refreshing reading a love story that had such a happy ending. Even though there was a lot of drama in the end it is a happy one. The main characters were so easily loved the author did a wonderful job introducing them and showing the story from both perspectives. Ash is an old soul that creates her own path in life who through the story grows into the person she needs to be. Jake finally finds one woman who can slow him down in life and open his eyes to what life has to offer. There are some sad parts during the story but none of which causes triggers and it is a great balance of hot and steamy mixed with some on the edge drama.

Yes!!

I loved this book. I literally could not put it down. Dr. Mitchell is extremely dreamy and I loved his chemistry with Ash. The author has a way of writing where you can just picture everything that happened. Now I'm not going to put any spoilers but I loved this book and I can't wait for more!

Great Read

Fate kept placing Ashley and a very handsome man together in San Francisco. Ashley didn't mean to hook up with "Mitch " the third time they met at a wedding, she didn't do one night stands."Mitch" who was actually heart surgeon Jake Mitchell was a player, but he was surprised to wake up alone in the morning. Fate is not done with them when Ashley's father requires heart surgery. This is a whimsical romance with plenty of hurdles. I found it very enjoyable.
I received this ARC book to read in exchange for an honest review.

Love, love, loved this book!!!!

Loved this book! Am very sad that I have to wait for the next book to be released and can’t continue with the series now. I loved how the main characters moved throughout the book. How they worked to overcome the issues that challenged them and did end up apart but stated true to each other so that when the issues could be resolved they were able to work on it and have the happily ever after!!
