Features & Highlights

  • The definitive picture book biography of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and one of the most crucial figures in the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Before he was Dr. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci was a curious boy in Brooklyn, delivering prescriptions from his father’s pharmacy on his blue Schwinn bicycle. His father and immigrant grandfather taught Anthony to ask questions, consider all the data, and never give up—and Anthony’s ability to stay curious and to communicate with people would serve him his entire life. This engaging narrative, which draws from interviews the author did with Dr. Fauci himself, follows Anthony from his Brooklyn beginnings through medical school and his challenging role working with seven US presidents to tackle some of the biggest public health challenges of the past fifty years, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Extensive backmatter rounds out Dr. Fauci’s story with a timeline, recommended reading, a full spread of facts about vaccines and how they work, and Dr. Fauci’s own tips for future scientists.

Disappointing. Not really a children’s book.

Starts as a children’s book. Then goes more into an ad for Fauci. I was really looking forward to receiving it after my long preorder. I love Dr. Fauci. But it’s not really a children’s book.

Propaganda trash

This is not a children’s book, it’s propaganda garbage that has no place in the children’s section. Morally bankrupt to produce and publish this as a book for kids when it’s simply more promotional material for a corrupt and narcissistic politician.

It's straight propaganda.

Incredibly transparent attempt to create a feel-good story about a man who has helped to usher in great damage to core American ideals. It's straight propaganda.

If I could put zero stars I would.

What a joke, kind of like Flip Flop Fauci. So sad this country believes this man.

An Italian American Story

This is a well written and beautifully illustrated book. It's very much about how hard work and determination prevail. It's an engaging, age-appropriate story that highlights, as the title suggests, how a curious Brooklyn boy, raised in a loving Italian family set out to help others in his life and succeeded. Anyone who suggests this is propaganda simply has not read the book and is reviewing based on their own pandemic-related biases alone. It's a great story about an everyday hero that will teach kids that when you face a problem, don't give up, keep working at finding a solution. Highly recommend!
