  • A catalog of more than 150 dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures—listed in alphabetical order from Abelisaurus to Zuniceratops—that is perfect for children as young as five.
  • Written by American Museum of Natural History educator Dustin Growick,
  • Dinosaur A to Z
  • is a colorful parade of the most exciting creatures that have ever lived and provides a line-up of the biggest, smallest, baddest, nicest, scaliest, and everything-in-between dinosaurs that have been discovered to date, as well as other prehistoric creatures of the air, land, and sea. Best dinosaur book

My 4 year old nephew's absolute favorite dinosaur book! We borrowed this book first from the library, and decided to buy it after renewing it 5 times! The drawings are colorful and big, with interesting facts. We read it together almost they night before bed.

Great for dino fanatics

I bought this for my nephew who is obsessed with dinosaurs. It's a great addition to his dino library! It is very informative; it has tons of dinosaurs but also pages about fossils, eggs, and sea creatures. It also showcases non-dinosaurs like pterosaurs and pre-mammal animals. My favorite part is the phonetic spelling of each dino name. It's a very entertaining book because the pictures captivate the 4-year-old mind, and there are so many layers of information that it will definitely keep him entertained for years to come.

Not informative not focused

I expected this to be very informal but I'm gonna have to look up every single dinosaur in this book myself now and write down myself if it was an omnivore a herbivore or a carnivore because it doesnt include that information for each dinosaur...another annoying thing it says it's about dinosaurs and includes multiple dinosaurs for one page which is too much and then a lot of the pages say NOT A DINOSAUR.... what the? I thought this was dinosaur a to z and the alphabet completely gets lost

It is worth 10 stars!!!

This an outstanding book in every way. The colors and descriptions are fantastic. Tells countries where dinosaurs have been found. An amazing glossary in back with small individual pictures and details. I cannot say enough about this book. My grandson loves it and wants to read it every time he visits.

Captures interest immediately, and holds it.

To say this book is fascinating is an understatement. Never mind "children over 5"--I'm a 70-year old grandmother and I could hardly put it down. I confess that dinosaurs are not high on my list of interests, but the information is presented in such a clear and colorful way--and in both images and text--that you can't help getting involved.

I got this for my grandson who does have an interest in dinosaurs. He was spending the night and I told him he could keep the light on and look at the book for a little while. When I passed down the hall a couple of hours later, he had read until falling asleep with the book still open. The next morning, he was at it again. I am delighted to have him concentrate and be engaged with something that does not have a screen.

Truthfully, I can understand his involvement. I had no idea that there even where enough different dinosaurs to take up the entire alphabet or that dinosaurs came in so many different varieties and sizes (even one as small as a pigeon). The book provides the names with a pronunciation key, interesting facts about each one, what they ate, their size and points of reference to make it easy to visualize. Truly, you can spend half an hour in two or three pages or flip pages in a minute if that particular specimen doesn't fascinate you. I've left the book on the coffee table so he can lounge and look at his book whenever he wants, but I've found that visiting adults also find it interesting.

I'll probably never learn the names but I and my grandson have learned a great deal about a subject that, if we didn't have concrete evidence that they really did exist, would seem too fantastical to be real. I foresee that this book will be relevant and interesting for many years to come--so it's a good thing it's such a high quality book (heavy paper, great binding, durable cover).
