Dilemma: A Priest's Struggle with Faith and Love

Found Albert's self revelation is a tad bit over the top hypocritical. Albert you failed to mention that you were being unfaithful long before you got caught - way long - you were golden boy and climber and hanging out in places you shouldnt have been even in seminary. Yes you wanted to "look" good and conservative - yes you would go to the Opus Dei retreats and been seen by all the right people. Yes you were courting all the "right" people. Albert you could have left and been dispensed but no - not Albert - I wish I could have said that I was surprised - but I wasn't. Yes Albert priests are all too human and sinners and struggle. But Albert your book is just so hypocritical. Albert you said all the right things when people were watching - but in private - even in seminary - it was quite a different story.

Outstanding book, it was hard to put it down. I felt I was walking right alongside Father Cutie throughout the book. It gives great insight into the church, and how human beings are constantly being transformed and preparing for the next great life. I have recommended it to may others as a must read.

I loved reading this book and found it to be very inspiring. Fr. Cutie has a very down-to-earth style of writing, making this a must-read for everyone. I found his acceptance of people from all backgrounds, genders, countries very refreshing, especially in this still-prejudiced era. I was especially touched by his heart for Latino immigrants. I, too, find our border situation horiffic. The message is simple: We are all God's children!

Thank you Father Cutir, for bringing to light all the questions I had and have growing up in the catholic church.

I loved my catholic school education and am very grateful for my spirituality, but oh Lord how many feelings of sadness and distress the church has caused.

I couldn't put the book down! So much of what Rev. Cutie wrote mirrored my own experience and story of idealogical transformation and growth. I found myself with his book in one hand and my journal in the other - writing down the many moments of truth for me that led to my leave of Roman Catholic priesthood 5 years ago last month.

Wise, brutally honest and sincere, courageous, heartfelt, God-focused, inspiring, prophetic and

I read this book four days; I couldn't put it down. "Dilemma" is genuine and a real page turner. It has a spiritual message for today's world, grounded in love, delivered with power, equal to a volley of canons.

We are introduced to Albert Cutie', who presents himself as a young man in our contemporary world. A man who becomes increasingly aware that he wants nothing more than to serve God. His journey begins to move one emotionally, as we are introduced to his life in the seminary, where he studies to becomes Catholic Priest. As his life unfolds, the author presents intellectual and spiritual challenges. You can literally feel your eyes gradually opening. This is a personal, spiritual journey of one man that is most extraordinary, refreshingly honest, that opens levels unseen by the laity and those who never question authority. The writing of this book couldn't be more timely.

Fr. Cutie's life reveals extraordinary courage, honesty, sacrifice and the power of prayer. Cutie' has the courage to tell you what is really going on. As sure as God is Love, it is love that paves the way and brings light into Fr. Albert's life. Friendships no longer suffice as this priest is left alone with his struggle, in an effort to reconcile the Gospel against the many rules and traditions that form the structure of the institutional church he serves. Fr. Cutie' is a living iconic example for us all, in an oftentimes secular and wounded world. This book will refresh your soul.

This book is a candid testimonial of the Roman Catholic Clergy today through the eyes of a dutiful, former Parish Priest who can also be said is a "multi media" Priest. Painfully honest, this book is recommended to all, yes even to devout Catholics. But a word of caution, be of open mind and mature faith. Father Cutie paints a self portrait of his experiences as a very human very real Priest and man. Moreover, his account relates instances of seldom heard "dirty laundry" of an ancient venerable institution. I speak as a Catholic not intending to scandalize. The the truth hurts, the truth matters and the truth often liberates. Father Cutie is not a particularly graceful writer but that just makes his book even more endearing. He is much more of a charismatic speaker. It seems that he chose to write directly without much editing from a professional, which makes his story ring authentic and heartfelt. We may not agree with Father Cutie's decisions (way too easy for us to disagree and judge but we cannot really contest Father Cutie's honesty and desire for us to understand him, especially when He owes us no explanation. The good that he has done particlarly for a vast Latino Community far out weighs his other very human deeds. This book inspires perseverance in-spite of human frailty and even nurtures an appreciation of our humanity. So its a very interesting read which is easy to read from cover to cover since its so interesting and offers unique perspectives into the daily life of Catholic Priest.

The author, Father Albert Cutie, pours his heart and soul into the chapters of this page-turning book. The truth, his private truth, is revealed in this beautiful love story that shows us how he was raised, his calling, the impact he has had on many people around the world with his cutting-edge 21st Century style of preaching to how he fell in love with an amazing woman who truly made him into the best "Father" he is today (that one of his son, Christian, and his daughter, Camila)! In addition to thgetting up, close and personal with him and his family, we get an inside look at the politics and dealings of the catholic church which many of us are not permitted to see or enter inside that world. Yes, it is one man's view, opinion, exposure but the book comes across as very valid, real and hopeful. Father Albert is humanized and makes us feel special and worthy. He welcomes all to his new church and to his life. A life..... many can relate too. Thank you for your sincerity FATHER ALBERT.Hoping for a movie!

A must-read for any Catholic who places religion above church dogma.
Having known for some time, due to travels thru the Europe of Catholic Bishops who were also rulers and massive land-owners, that celibacy was NOT a religious requirement but a convenience for church asset management, we were happy to see a priest question it as well as discuss some of the other issues,i.e. homosexuality among the ordained.
While everyone wishes that their church is perfect, it is clear that our Catholic church has not been.
Most importantly, Padre Alberto's book, points out that just like he failed to keep his vows as required by the Chuch, the Church's leadership[human beings also] have failed us as well. The difference is that his failure affected him and a limited number of people.
When the human beings in the church, regardless of rank, fail it affects entire communities as well as nations.
Thus, these human beings need the prayer of all of us to help them from continuing to make mistakes that have occurred, such as pedophilia, as well as to return the Church to a healthy state of affairs which can only be done by eliminating rules such as celibacy, which has prevented many excellent catholics from entering or staying as a Catholic priest!!!
An organization is only as strong as its weakest link, so we hope to see the Catholic Church leadership wake up and change rules that wold encourage the best people to become its future leaders. Eliminating the celibacy requirement would be a good first step!!!

While shopping at Barnes and Noble, I came across Fr Albert's book "Dilema." I did not buy the book that day, but I did a few days later. There was just something about the book I couldn't shake. I read the book in 2 days. I just couldn't put it down. Fr Albert gives a very heart felt account of his life as a priest as well as what is going on in the Catholic church. It was a real eye opener. I have shared this book with many of my friends and co workers who all enjoyed the book as well. I am an avid reader and this is just one of those special stories that will stay with you for a very long time. I highly recommend this book. You won't be disappointed!
