I just receive my daughters book and the inside is backwards. Did this happen to anyone else ? The front of the book opens to the end of the book and it's upside down.

Son LOVES it!

My son is not a big reader and struggles greatly in school. Part of that is a result of his high functioning autism. We ordered this book for him for Christmas and he absolutely LOVES it!
He read the entire thing with no assistance. I am so proud of him. I am also thankful he found a series he enjoys that is written well, yet still simply enough he can read it without a struggle.
It's funny and cute much like the other books in the series and the movies.

Laugh Out Loud Funny!

"Pack your bags. We're going on a road trip."

Thus begins the 9th book in the Wimpy Kid series. I have a feeling I know what you're thinking. Another Wimpy Kid book? Who wants to read more about the selfish brat also know as Greg Heffley? I mean, let's face it, he isn't the best role model (or even close for that matter). I've cringed many times while reading these books with my son; the way Greg treats his supposed best friend Rowley or the way Rodrick treats Greg. Please, even my kids treat each other better than this (which is a good thing). Of course, my son and I have spoken about Greg's behavior and how he isn't nice to Rowley and only uses him to get what he wants. And I don't deny my son the chance to read something he really enjoys. Anything you read is a chance to learn something, even if the book just teaches you to recognize bad behavior.

So, I was hugely surprised to find myself laughing out loud while reading this book to my son. Rowley is absent from this book and I think that helped. The book focuses entirely on Greg and his family and their misadventures. Greg's mom decides that a road trip is an excellent way to bring the family together. It doesn't exactly turn out as she expected, but they still manage to have quite the adventure.

I don't want to give anything away, but there is a piglet, crazy seagulls, a water park adventure and many funny driving and motel scenes that many of us can relate to. How many of us have been on a family trip and Dad has to take a work call. Everyone in the car is supposed to be quiet.... Very funny scene!!

Recommended to:
Any fans of the Wimpy Kid series and even some people who aren't fans. If you like funny family stories where everything that can go wrong does, you will enjoy this book. Think (totally PG) book version of one of the Vacation movies.

Another Hit in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series!

My 10 year old son loves to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. He is an avid reader and reads all types of books and genres, yet Diary of a Wimpy Kid is still one of his favorite series to read. We purchased this book for him last year at Christmas, and he read the entire book on Christmas day! We were so surprised, but he was happily curled up in a chair reading away! He loves the illustrations and all the crazy things that the main character, Greg, and his group of friends say and do. You will absolutely want to add this book to your child's collection if they like reading this series!

It made a great b-day gift

My 3rd grade son loves this series of books and wanted to get this as soon as it came out. It made a great b-day gift! The reason I only give it 3 stars is because as a parent I don't really love the sarcasm and ingratitude in the characters. But it gets my boy to want to read, so that's good, right?

FYI, Greg is not a good role model

My 10 year old loves this series. He thinks it is hilarious. I really do not like them. The kid is a class A jerk to his best friend, lies, and is constantly scheming ways to become "popular". I have read these with my son and we have talked about the main characters good and bad qualities. He understands the difference between what is funny in a fiction book and what expectations for his behavior. As long as he knows that, he can read them. Quick and easy read for him.

Sorry to say this but this book was terrible. I have enjoyed all the previous books in the series. Somehow this one had something missing. Like the story was forced. It seemed shorter than the other books also.

This series might just have run its course ...

The worst of the series - not as funny or creative as the previous books were. I pre-ordered the book and waited anxiously for its arrival. As I have done with all of the other books, I gobbled it up in one sitting. I kept turning pages with hope that each next page would finally make me laugh out loud. I was disappointed.
