One of the greatest meet-cute moments! And pirates!

Destiny’s Captive is the final book/book 3 in the Destiny series and a bit of a pirate romance! This is probably my fav Bev series so I was excited to get to this one. And what a great time! Pilar and Noah Yates have the greatest meet cute moment, with her tying him up and stealing his ship and then him wanting revenge and his ship back. 🤣 Beverly Jenkins writes amazing heroines and Pilar is another fiery, strong, fantastic heroine that I loved…she is proud to be from a family of Cuban pirates, thieves and smugglers and I loved that the story starts with her stealing Noah’s ship.

Shanghai’d at 18, Noah had a terrible few years and is now left with the horrible memories and facial scars. He seeks out his revenge against Pilar but after tracking her down in Cuba and learning his ship sank, they have a sword fighting moment and find themselves getting married instead! Together they travel from Cuba to Florida and then across the states to his family’s ranch in California. I really enjoyed this one! I loved Pilar’s strong character and their shared love of the sea and ships. I loved his family’s reaction to Pilar being the pirate who stole and sank his ship. There is a lot of fun and sweet moments with the entire family and the previous couples. I loved how Pilar was ready to take on any challenges or help out with tasks around the ranch. Billie and Mariah’s “baby jail” was hilarious. I loved Alanza (Noah’s mom) and her relationship with her 3 daughter-in-laws. And the side romance that has been building throughout the series for Alanza (the Yates brothers Momma) and Antonio, well they get married in this book and I just adored seeing more of their banter and HEA. This book was fantastic and along with the 2nd in the series (Destiny’s Surrender), they’re amongst my fav Beverly Jenkins reads.

A Well Told Finale

In this final installment we meet the last of the Yates Brothers: Noah Yates. He's the pretty boy, the baby boy of the family and in the last two books it was mentioned that he was more in love with the sea, and fun loving. However in this book we learn that ten years prior, he was shanghaied and the horrors that took place then, took the light out of his soul.

In the present day, his ship is stolen by a cloaked person who sounds like a woman. It is a woman. Short, petite, but good with a sword, Pilar Banderas is no joke and Noah vowed revenge whenever he lay eyes on her again.

Of course he finds her again and the "rest is history" as they say. Pilar finds herself in predicament with Noah wanting her hand in marriage...

Yet the deep, dark secret of what truly happened to Noah will pierce her soul and the reader's. Get the tissues ready.

The chemistry between these two was good. the storyline great and the history of Cuba was interesting. The passion between the sheets is spicy as always, but perhaps I wanted more between Pilar and Noah? The book is still five stars though because it is a story well told
