Sadly, not worth your time.
This is a 552-page book. A lot of the writers' time and hopes have gone into it, but it's really bad. I could not get past page 88. Clichés abound, as did stilted dialogue, unnecessary and distracting details, and a plot that (as far as I got) lacked credibility. The key character was in an unlikely (romantic?) relationship, and the killer's motivation to go after him was not logical or believable. The entire project was amateurish and unsatisfying. If I could give it minus stars, I would.

Boring
Where's the mystery? Where's the suspense? Very easy to guess what is going to happen next... because the book pretty much tells you. I never once had the desire to keep reading to see what happens next. The main character is a playboy tool that everything just works out for him, pretty dull character in my opinion. I would rather read a history text book, at least that would be a true story.

Great Start to a series.
Dead Lawyers Don't Lie: A Gripping Thriller (Jake Wolfe Book 1) by Mark Nolan
4 out of 5 Stars
This book is the first in the Jake Wolfe series and let me tell you that it is very fast paced. I love crime, drama, mystery, and murder genres. But book had my head reeling. This wasn’t at all bad at times. I loved the fast action most of the time. Similar to when you are watching a good movie and fight scene is just THAT good. But I did find myself having to go back and reread a few portions to figure out something because there was much to the plot that I could not remember it all. However, having said all that, If I was ever in trouble, I would want Jake Wolfe to come to bail me out, because, dang. That man can really help a girl out. Jake is a war vet who is determined to protect those around him from the trouble that seems to find him.
This is a good book for lovers of mysteries, suspense, action, and adventure. The character dialogue is hilarious and the action is fast.

Good read
Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie is the first book in the Jake Wolfe series.
The story line is intriguing. There is a good amount of action and suspense as you read. I love the addition of the dog as an integral part of the book. That being said, there are a few places where the story is slowed a little by some filler that could have been cut and still left a superb adventure.
Overall, a good read.

wrong place
Poor Jake Wolfe. In Dead Lawyers Don't Lie , by Mark Nolan, it all starts with Jake just being in the wrong place at the right time. Mark Nolan writes an excellent thriller, with nonstop action. He gives us great characters that are fully fleshed out and you can’t help becoming attached to them. This is a great cat and mouse story that gives and gives especially if you like an action-packed ride, excitement, dogs and even a little romance to spice things up a little. If you can’t tell by now, I am a mark Nolan fan.

A great thriller
What happens when you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, but also have a picture of a murder who has added you to there hitlist.
Jake is a war veteran and is in San Francisco when he takes a picture but does not realised that he may have photographed a killer. As Jake then realises he has placed himself in the middle of this serial killers sights and will he be next on the hit list.
I really enjoyed the twists and turns within the story and that it was constructed really well. The characters are brilliant and enhance the story as it weaves through the world of "The Artist", with the story exploring Jake's past it lets you into the experiences which has made this man who he is today.
This is the first story I have read by this author and loved the style of writing which draw me in and I could not stop reading once started. I can't wait for the next book in this series and to read more about Jake.

New author to me
This was my first time reading any book by Mark Nolan. While I did enjoy the story I felt like it dragged on just a bit. However, it did keep me engaged and I did find myself wanting to find out what was going to happen.
Jake Wolfe is a former Marine who is employed as a photojournalist. His boss gave him the task of tailing a high profile attorney to see if he could uncover some dirt on him. What Jake found himself in the middle of might have been more that he thought would be involved. While watching the lawyer and several of his buddies talk it up on the fairway he witnesses his subject get murdered. Jake inadvertently sees the assassin hiding in a tree and gets a picture. The assassin, known as The Artist, is picking off lawyers for a big pay day. They aren't just any lawyers though, they are high profile, the kind that bring you media attention. The Artist has been doing this job for years and will not be brought down by a man and his camera. There is an even bigger pay day waiting for him of he can also take out Jake Wolfe, a man who is causing more trouble than he knows. Who will come out ahead in this game of cat and mouse? Will the luck of the Irish stay with Jake or will his luck finally run out?
