Historical Romance

A Daughter’s Courage by Misty M. Beller is the third book in her Brides of Laurent historical romance series.

This book has one of my favorite plots: finding romance in the middle of a blizzard. Add in the danger of the mountains and I settled in for what I knew would be a wonderful story. And it was!

I loved the various challenges the pair faced as well as how their romance developed. By the end, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out how it all worked out!

If you love weather romances, then definitely grab a copy of A Daughter’s Courage.

GREAT Christian Historical Romance

Misty M. Beller is a favorite author of mine and I am always excited to read her new releases. A Daughter’s Courage is book 3 in the Brides of Laurent series. I read Book 1 in the series and I was excited to read Book 3.

The time is 1817 in the Canadian Rockies. Charlotte Durand has set out on a journey to find a skilled worker to repair a treasured chalice that she accidently broke. She wasn't prepared for the Snowstorm that would hinder her journey. She thought it would take 2 days, but now she is cold and trapped alongside the Mountain Lake. Damien Levette, a local trapper, is worried for Charlotte when he finds her alongside the Lake. He wasn't anticipating having to help someone else during the Blizzard, but he knows he can't leave her alone. Will Damien and Charlotte survive the cold and the Snowstorm? Will Charlotte find someone to fix the Treasured Chalice?

WOW, this has to be the BEST book by Misty M. Beller that I have read. Charlotte is a very strong woman and very independent. She really loves her Village and her People. Damien is a strong man and has a heart for others. I really LOVED seeing them work together to survive the storm and cold. The friendship that grew over time was so special. This story is one of strength, perseverance, trust, forgiveness and faith, I was captivated by the story from the very first page and did not put it down until I finished! I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Fiction! FANTASTIC BOOK!

A Pleasure To Read!

" The porcelain skin, the refined features - how could he not have realized this was a woman from his very first glance? . . . . And why was she out in this storm?"

Determined to locate an engraver skilled enough to repair her village's historic chalice before anyone discovered the damage she had accidentally inflicted, Charlotte Durand slips away from her family early one dawn and begins the slow trek across neighboring mountains towards Fort Versailles. Unfortunately, the weather does not cooperate and Charlotte finds herself dependent upon a young trapper who happens upon her half-frozen body. Carefully skirting the true reason for her trip, Charlotte unsuccessfully tries to convince Damien Levette to allow her to warm up and continue on, but the stubborn man insists on accompanying her, as a guide of sorts. It seems they both have secrets.

Everything about this series conclusion exudes quality; beautifully paced and finely plotted, the two main characters spend enough time together to discover hidden strengths which neither of them knew they had. Especially Damien. Watching him grow into the life God intended for him to live, while observing Charlotte's joy at finding the sort of man whom she feared would never cross her path . . . . well, it all adds up to a really good story. ( But wait! We can't leave out Gulliver!!!)

"When He looks at you, He's pleased. And because of that, you are not second best to any other. . . . You needn't fear the opinion of anyone else. "

Charlotte and Damien

A Daughter’s Courage was a tale full of adventure. Charlotte was a character who I felt began the story with a rather naive perspective about the world she lived in. She simply did not realize how dangerous the trek across the wilderness would be for anyone, let alone a woman traveling by herself. She never even contemplated that the fort could also house dangers, as well. She also was incredibly stubborn and did not listen easily to the advice of Damien regarding incoming weather and other dangers. However, Charlotte learned a lot while on this journey and her eyes were opened about many things. I grew to really like her.

I also liked Damien. Although I did not always agree with his decisions, I appreciated that he wanted to help Charlotte and keep her safe. He proved himself to be a very honorable and kind man and it was a joy to watch a true friendship develop between the two that then grew into love.

It was great to see some characters from the earlier stories, yet I feel that this novel could also be enjoyed on its own even if you haven’t read the first two books of the series.

Great story!

Great story! I loved Damien and the mysteriousness that was lent to his background. He was a hurt and struggling, yet strong and determined man. Charlotte was a heroine worthy of the title, tentative, yet courageous and full of love and care for those around her.
This was such a sweet and exciting book and I am thrilled to have gotten the chance to journey along with these characters as they came to learn just exactly who they were to the God Who created them!
