Not what you might think ...

This is the first Dee Henderson book I've ever read. The chances of me reading another are slim. By the time I finished this book, I was saying "This poo cost 13.99!!!!!!!" The story focuses mainly on Sara Walsh who is stalked by a man who kidnapped her 25 years ago. First things first: This book has NO SUSPENSE!!! Seriously, I was so disappointed. I was waiting for a book that would keep me on the edge of my seat, and instead I continued reading hoping that I was just at a "slow" part of the book...the whole book is SLOW! The action happens really at the end of the book, and even then it's like what, a page? The "pain" main character Sara has and is living gets your sympathy at first. But after the next 200 pages, it gets very old and annoying. Partly because you're not quite sure what has fully happened to Sara as a child; the author only hints at the trauma that she's faced, but at the end of the book, you still don't fully get why she has so many nightmares and is petrified of the dark. Also Sara never really gets over her fear--it's not until it's gone that she does. I wish the author had made Sara rescue herself in a way--not always wait for someone else to do it...

The "Hero" of the book Adam, was horrible. I couldn't stand him. He was pushy and selfish, and the author covered all of that up saying "it's only because he loved her"--like that makes it okay??! Adam also keeps praying and asking God about how he can get Sara all the time and talking about how much he wants to help her--it just gets SO tired. You aren't even sure he loves her as much as he just wants to help her. I wish the relationship between the two main characters had been developed more. Instead, he doesn't even tell her he loves her until the end??! Horrible.

This book is not a gripping thriller. It's not a mystery and lacks suspense. In fact, it's not even fully a romance. I'm not sure exactly WHY it won an award, but my suggestion is to pass on this book. Or borrow it from a friend. But PLEASE, I beg you, don't spend the money!

... this book over again and have to say I love it each time I read it

I just finished reading this book over again and have to say I love it each time I read it! Henderson really makes you feel the trauma that Sara has been through. I love the relationship between Sara and Adam just as much as I love Sara's relationship with her brother. Dave is pretty much the most wonderful big brother. I love that him and Adam become close too. There is a great balance of suspense and romance in this book. I love how patient Adam is. I also love how Sara works hard to overcome personal struggles to open up to a new person in her life

Nice story

This is the story of Sara and Adam. Sara is a writer in very real danger from a stalker who had kidnapped her and her twin when they were six. Adam is a former pro football player who meets Sara by chance. There is minimal imminent danger which makes this somewhat of a feel good story. It is well written with an element of faith. For readers with faith there is an underlying spiritual message.

Great Author!!

This is one of the best books I have read. The entire series is worth owning, but this is one is one of the best. Henderson has you at the edge of your seat the entire time. She bring the Characters to live and makes you feel like you truly know them. Great writing and overall moral/message. I have reread it many times.
