I Bought the 2017 Edition So Can't Compare with the Older Ones

I saw a reference to this book in a recipe collection and had to order it to find out what "Cranks" might be. To quote, "Cranks was the UK's first ever vegetarian restaurant, opening on 21st June 1961." Even though I'm a dedicated carnivore, I have found this little cookbook to be a delight from beginning to end, especially with its glimpses of traditional British fare. Each ingredient list shows US-style tsp, TB, oz as well as Metric ml and grams. Almost every recipe has a one-sentence intro such as this for Simnel Cake: "A special fruit cake originally made to celebrate Mothering Sunday, and now generally associated with Easter." Check Amazon's "Look Inside" feature to see the Table of Contents and a list of recipes -- they all sound homey and tasty. There are no pictures, but I wouldn't want to give up a single recipe to have pictures included. The book is right at home with today's emphasis on organic produce and whole foods. Highly Recommended if you're passionate about cooking.

An old favourite

Replacement for a copy bought 35 years ago when I worked for Cranks. Great recipes, still my favourite vegetarian cookbook!

Creative and useful

My wife is really pleased with this edition, which she says is expanded from the one she had. She finds it very useful indeed, and hopes the binding will last better than the previous one
