College Physics by OpenStax (hardcover version, full color)

I love having a textbook that doesn't break the bank. I'm old school and PDF files and eBooks just don't work for me with certain subjects, physics is one of them. I only wish the examples had an appendix with solutions so we could verify our answers.

It's a good book but you can download it free from there site. Other than that its okay for a free book, though you can tell that this is still in the making. The material is covered but it's not explained as well and the solutions manual isn't the best it's very inconsistent.

I know OpenStax has the online version available for free, but when it comes to studying Physics I find having the actual book a lot easier. It cost me $50, but defenitly worth it!

Book is inexpensive and seems to be pretty good. it does not have a written solutions manual. It has only a PARTIAL solutions manual for some odd combination of every fourth problem of one sort and every south of another sort. Odd. Worse, if you purchased the hard copy to use off line, you STILL have to go on line to find the answers, no solutions, to odd questions. So it is NOT the same on line text. Open Stax said they were a company that worked on grants and didn't have a grant to do more.
Text's font is a little small for me too.
Disappointed with the limited usefulness.
Also the cover and binding is flimsy and I do not think it will he up.
Finally, book came with a large slash across the binding, like for a box cutter.

If you have an online component for your course the e-text if free, save your money and buy a physics book that has been authored by physicists. I ended up borrowing my husbands book for the duration of my course and only referenced this book when necessary for homework. The presentation of material is convoluted and incoherent at times. It was very hard for me to follow the material and to really see how they were arriving at their answer.

A good textbook. I understand that this book is made to be cheaper and they cut a lot of corners. But some topics had no intro and we're not very well explained. Still better than most, had cool

Wait! Don't pay $74.50 for this USED copy! At the time of this review (10/19/13), you can get a NEW copy for just $49.73 from OpenStax College. Even better, you can download the PDF version or use the on-line version for free! The online version has cool interactive content.

Product was advertised as "new" but came in terrible condition and looks as if someone used it. The spine is very loose and not attached properly. It seems as if the book is going to fall apart. There is also a scratch on the back cover and the pages on the top are damaged. I am very disappointed with the quality, as this was something that was supposed to be in new condition.

Rented this textbook and it's falling apart. I hope it survives the semester. Had to tape the spine on the outside.

Book is HUGE! Arrived quickly in EXCELLENT CONDITION.....nice strong binding, very sturdy. I'm very pleased with this purchase & the overall low cost.
