If only all TBI had such happy endings.

This book in one sense is good because it does give descriptions (although very, very brief) of many different types of Traumatic Brain Injuries. I suffered mine a bit over two years ago, and just knowing of others who have had similar experiences is oddly comforting. That said, this book on the whole rarely goes beyond feel good, uplifting, "I'm OK..., no, I'm great" type of writing. Oh, and almost everyone ends their story by thanking God (or Jesus). Not to many tears here. Just hold His hand and He'll guide you through it.

Does anyone ever question why, if He exists and is so intent on helping us He didn't, say, sprinkle a little sand on the ice so that the person wouldn't ever have slipped and hit his head? No, no deep questions in this book. No deep thoughts. No unhappy endings. No crippling job losses and unemployment. No piles of unpaid medical bills. No calls from medical debt collectors, No divorce. No alienation from family and friends. No isolation. No despair. Instead, we mostly get a kinda creepy hug from the editors and writers. Maybe I'm mistaken to think that many (most?) of us TBI survivors face no such rosy futures. Maybe I'm the odd man out??

I think "Head Cases" is a much more realistic look at TBI in America. That said, however. this book is good in that you might come across a story of a TBI case similar to yours. And that does help, somewhat. And, if "uplifting" is what you seek, this book (not Head Cases) is for you.

not as wonderful as some but parts were still relevant

My wife suffered a stroke and in every account we found something to help with her recovery. Our story is very simple, not as wonderful as some but parts were still relevant. Harv & Ferne

Chicken soup for the soul:Recovering from Traumatic Brain Inury

What an amazing book. All of these contributors are heroes. It makes me feel like a total idiot worrying about the small stuff I especially feel devastated by the suffering of veterans fighting bravely for our country. My heart goes out to you all, trite as it might sound Each story has affected me so much. YOU ALL ARE SIMPLY AMAZING AND I HONOUR YOU. No book has touched me as this has
