Stay away

Stay away from this book. If you want something more comprehensive use Lemay and Brown chemistry they have been around much more longer and explain the chemistry concepts better. Chang is not very clear book. If your professor recommends this book then go choose another professor. I have used this book for first and second semester and I regret ever taking this book. Unfortunately they have done a bad job explaining concepts. Although the advertisement may claim future but, it hurts to see a bad grade. I had to refer to another book to get me through the course.

I'm not sure why this book gets bad reviews, it's a typical chemistry book and covers many introductory topics ending with some organic chemistry. If you are relying on the book too much, maybe you should change your professor. Some of the chapter questions are a little difficult and may be a little too much critical thinking especially if you are not pursuing science as a career.

Did not include registration card. Incomplete package.

The book was missing the registration card. I had to spend more money because I was sold an incomplete/product. Not valid without the registration code.

Chang -->Two Thumbs Down!

I am in General Chemistry at FSU this Spring 2016 semester and have fallen behind trying to comprehend the explanations in this book. I began looking at an alternative book, "Chemistry, The Central Science, 13th Edition by Brown and LeMay, and I believe this will serve you well if you are thinking of alternatives.

Big and Bulky

The book was in great condition. It looked very new. None of the ages were ripped, highlighted or missing. I recommend purchasing this textbook if you are taking General Chemisty 1 or General Chemisty 2. Information and practice questions/quizzes are very helpful and will assist you tremendously on exams, quizzes and homework. The only downside for this text book is that it is big and bulky. So I would not recommend taking it from class to class unless you absolutely have to because it WILL weigh you down.
