Beauty through brokenness

Highly recommend, loved the unique perspective of viewing beauty, particularly God's beauty, through the eyes of the camera. The storyline was a refreshing view of how God can use the same object that brought us hurt and pain to bring healing and wholeness. In this story, we meet Callie who doesn't see the beauty in herself, instead she carries around a feeling of not good enough from her high school years when she was hurt by someone she looked up to, hurt in a way that left her ashamed and lacking in self confidence. Then God brings Haven into her life and through an interesting set of circumstances (Haven trying to reconnect with his son after 6 years of not seeing him) forces them to spend time together. Haven who isn't looking for a relationship sees the true beauty in Callie and being the photography longs to capture her beauty on film. And Haven doesn't understand why Callie is so adamant against having her picture taken. As their relationship grows and Callie shares with Haven the humiliation she has faced in the past from a photographer, Haven respects her wishes and promises not to film her. Yet by the end of the book, we see God bringing healing to Callie's brokenness by the very object that brought her condemnation, the camera. While at the same time, Callie is teaching Haven how to open his eyes and see the true beauty all around him in God's beautiful creation, in unplanned moments of joy. What a beautiful picture of friendship, love, and God's goodness through the people who brings into our lives. So get a copy of this book, and prepare to get caught up in Haven and Callie's story, you will not want to put it down

The truth wins.

I loved this book and I highly recommend it. I enjoy stories that include family members. There are several twists and turns in the story that I didn't see coming, which makes the reading more enjoyable.

I always enjoy Brenda's books

Reading Callie and Haven's story reminded me of the power of words to hurt, and also to heal. We always say that actions speak louder than words, and while that is entirely true, words alone can deeply damage relationships, feelings, self-esteem.....and they can also heal in those areas. While this book is indeed about beauty as the title implies, it's also about healing and restoration.

I was given a copy of the book in exchange for a fair review, and I was honored to be asked about my opinion of the book. I always enjoy Brenda's books.
