kind of dated

This is a good solid book for newbies for hardware learning, don't get me wrong. It's just dated. What I mean is that when it talks about hard disk drives, it talks about IDE interfaces and such, not even discussing the SATA interface that is common today. It also doesn't mention solid state drives. Descriptions are very good and the author is gifted, but he needs to seriously update it. That is the trouble with technical books. They sure do get outdated quickly!

Easy to follow but very dated

Details nicely how to get started and the minimum to look for but, the book is very dated (refers to components and operating systems that are no longer supported). Still, very easy to read and follow if you've never built your own PC.

Great but...

It's a great book except the fact that it give some info that is sorta irrelevant, but otherwise it gives some nice info.

Pretty Good

I have a good idea of how to proceed now that I have the book. I would have liked some more detail. I would also liked to see a checklist for parts, etc.
