Features & Highlights

  • A journey back to the spangled age of Glam Rock, when men were men and women were often men in disguise, in the company of the most outrageous band of all This is the first biography to explore the beautiful dichotomy of the Sweet, still one of the best-loved bands of their age. Between 1971 and 1975, the Sweet were invincible, fighting every step of the way against their reputation as a pop group with a simultaneous string of records that are today recognized as hard rock classics. Such performers as Bowie, Queen, and Slade may have hogged the headlines, but the Sweet were the pioneers. Powered by exclusive interviews with all four original members of the band, and written with the full cooperation of bassist Steve Priest, this is the story of the Sweet as they lived it, a vibrant helter skelter of delectable drama and dynamic detail. The book also includes a full worldwide discography including albums, singles, and audio-visual material.

A great treat for SWEET fans!

I've been a true fan of the Sweet since I saw them on TOTP as a very small American girl living in Scotland in the early 70s. It's hard to find anything in print about the Sweet, and this book was a great read, having alot of fun facts, hard truths, unpleasant moments, and just pure joy for those of us who have always loved this band and miss Brian and Mick!

Mick is one of my all-time fave drummers, and influence me as a drummer to start my own fall-female rock band in the early 90s. I own everything the Sweet ever did and anything that ever comes out on this overlooked band is something I will always purchase and always recommend, as it's so few and far between. This book was, IMHO, a great read about a great band!

Great book for Sweet fans!

This is a nice book for fans of The Sweet band. Perhaps one of the most underrated and influential British rock bands of the 1970's. This book is packed with details, Quotes, interviews and photo's of the band memebers Brian Connolly, Mick Tucker, Andy Scott, and Steve Priest . It was written with the approval of Steve Priest. I don't think it is the definitive book on the band but it is well researched and loaded with alot of imformation, recordings, tours, management problems, etc. I think most Sweet fans would be happy to have it. I do wish it went into more of their personal lives , wives, children, girlfriends, especially Brian Connolly the handsome lead singer who passed away tragically at age 51. Brian was the heart and soul of Sweet. I feel there is a much deeper story to be told. The pictures in the book are great but some were a bit grainy. Still it is one of the only books about Sweet. I'm happy to have it. I really love the Steve Priest book "Are You Ready Steve?", but it has been out of print several years. I heard it may be back in print soon. If you love The Sweet don't miss this one!! Rest in Sweet peace Mick and Brian and Rock ON!!
