Bible Journaling Made Simple: An Art-Filled Journey for Creative Worship

I gave this book five stars for beauty and optimism (the author voice is so confident the reader is going to keep up with her).

The tutorials will speak the most to people who already have some confidence with art and the media suggested (watercolor paints, colored pencils and watercolor pencils), and are willing/able to break through any internalized barriers against using bible pages as a canvas.

I am one of those with a big history of notes and underlining, but still edgy at the idea of using the whole page (lacking a border in my bible of choice). Over the course of reading the book, however, I found myself relaxing into the idea.

Seeing the variety of images (I think I heard somewhere there at least 100 Over the course of the book) and how they interacted with the text helped create a familiar-enough sense of reverence.

The most useful part to me was the description of how the wet techniques will change the Bible pages (understandably wrinkled), and how the pages can be restored (with an iron), but not to the same, pristine, unwrinkled state.

The images of this and other techniques were well done, examples and techniques were beautifully/helpfully rendered.

There was a number of references to doing this sort of art in a group and sharing pictures of completed pages/artwork on social media.

As someone who is just working up the nerve to work this sort of art on my own, the casual collectivism was sort of intimidating, as if the art described as personal, devotional, was also made to be seen. Which, I suppose, much art is.

Wow! This book is amazing! It's not a beautiful Bible but a way to express and personalize one's faith and create their own work of art. People of all ages will enjoy this companion on their spiritual journey. I can't wait to buy my own copy when it comes out. The ideas and pictures are well done and very helpful. This book will be a well-used and well-loved companion.

This book is lovely. It is so pretty. It is packed full of information and inspiration. If you’re curious about Bible Journaling and don’t know why or how, this book is for you. Art tips, but also how to incorporate Bible Journaling as a spiritual discipline. What can you do during Bible Journaling to get the Word in you? This is a great resource. I have been Bible Journaling for quite a while and I still found helps, hints, and inspiration in the book helpful. There is even a section on starting a Bible Journaling small group!

I had never thought of coloring and writing in my Bible. This book encourages you to do just that as you study your Bible. It tells you just how to do it, how to overcome your feelings of it being a bad thing to do and gives you examples of beautiful artwork done.
Truly a wonderful idea and a way to bring you closer in your Bible study.
I love it and recommend it to everyone whether you have ever colored in your Bible or not. Have FUN

I have some other journaling books. This is the best. Most informative, and give info on leading a group for journaling. I highly recommend this book
