I expected this one to be just as good but it turned out to be the best so far. There is no down time in reading this book. Something is happening every minute." - J.Long, Amazon Reviewer "I was not disappointed, not for a minute! I could not put this book down, from the moment it started! These books are well written and easy to follow the story!" - Betsy, Amazon Reviewer"I really enjoyed this book and how well the author kept my interest. If you like good suspense that offers good character representation, you will not want to put this book down until the end." - Jay, Amazon Reviewer John Ellsworth was born and raised in the wonderful state of Arizona. His childhood dream of becoming an astronaut was quickly put to bed after his first taste of dehydrated food. After finishing his law degree at Saint Louis University, John was launched into what he thought was going to be a passionate, fulfilling law career. What he experienced instead was too many years of heartbreaking stories, business hurdles, and the monotony of a career stuck inside a courtroom. He needed a way out. He needed a way to use his expertise he earned after many years of experience. What he needed, was writing.xa0John, always having a passion for the art of the written word, tried his hand at novel writing in early 2013. His first book, The Defendants, was turned upside down and inside out for a year of editing and creative insight. In 2014, The Defendants was published as John's very first work. Writing came naturally to John, and allowed him creative freedom and expression while still utilizing his law degree. He was no longer stuck inside the courtroom walls, but allowed to wander, run, and jump off of the pages of his books.xa0His early success bolstered his decision to leave a law career altogether, and in 2015 John left his practice and signed up for a lifetime of authorship. His success leaves him extremely humbled, as all of it is due to his readers and fans who keep turning their pages and picking up the next new book.

I like the characters very much

This is the second Ellsworth book I've read (first was The Defendants). I like the characters very much. Very interesting settings and plot twists. The author seems to speak with knowledge about not only the legal system but the US Government's internecine workings and the dynamics between the FBI and organized crime. I like his women, and I like the relationships between the good guys and the women in their lives.

Excellent

I am a huge Grisham fan and am waiting his next book. However, I have taken to reading the Thaddeus Murfee Series by John Ellsworth. Beyond a Reasonable Death is one of the best books I have read. Couldn't wait to pick it up and continue reading again. My only critique would be that the young attorney is intelligent enough to consider a lawsuit against the mob, yet is not smart enough to figure out birth control.

An enjoyable and entertaining book.

This was the first of Ellsworth's books that I've read. The title intrigued me, so that's why I bought it. Thaddeus Murfee, a young lawyer, decides to sue the "mob" for trying to kill him, and killing his secretary. However, it's not just all courtroom drama. There's some action, and romance, with a bit of a twist. It kept me reading. I'll be trying more of Ellsworth's books.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it could have used another good edit. Several wrong words, that apparently had been auto-corrected or missed by the editor.

Good story.

Enjoyed the story line and suspense where Thad starts out richer than he started in the previous book and this time has enough money to fight the Chicago mob and the good guys win in the end. A little drawn out during the legal jargon so I just skipped over most of that but looking forward to the next one in this series. Too many typo's - needs a new editor.
