Such a fantastic read!

The people pleaser in me needed this book. This book is one of the best I've read in a very long time. The way Lysa shares stories and wisdom is unlike any other. You'll be entertained and inspired at the same time. If you struggle with having too much on your plate and need a system to be empowered to learn how to say yes to the right things and no to the wrong things, this book is for you. In my life, I haven't found a friend that hasn't said, "I need THAT BOOK!" You'll feel the same way from page 1 of this book.

The Best Book

Trust me when I tell you this is the best book for man or woman who want to say yes, but need to sometimes learn to say no! Lysa TerKeurst has such a way of drawing you right into her thinking and you'll say, "yes, that's me."

Great book for dialogue and Sunday School Classes

I like to leave reviews after I have fully used an item. Led our women's Sunday School group with this book. Thought I would help some out there trying to decide if this would work for their group. We have a class of about 20 women. For cost purposes, we did not use the study guide or dvd...and it still worked great. As leader, I purchased the study guide for extra usage, but to be honest, it did not work as well as I had hoped. The book by itself CAN work and it brought about great dialogue by writing my own questions and just asking candid questions about what others really liked and to share their own personal feelings. We were able to stretch the book into 10 weeks by not using the study guide. Great book. Group REALLY liked it (even more than me!). I have a group that already is highly involved in other small groups and other items of our church, so we needed a fun book that we just read a chapter a week on with no real homework. This fit the bill wonderfully. If you are new to leading groups, this is a great one to start with. Have fun!

Excellent and Applicable!

This is a great book, especially seeing the normal day in our rushed society. Lysa TerKeurst really applies how to spiritually discern what is necessary and what could be harmful. Really I do not want to have, as she says, "An overwhelmed schedule, with an underwhelmed soul." I am also starting the online study on Sept 22nd!! Join in @ Proverbs 31!!!

Hold Out Until the End!

Our fledgling book club selected this book as our second book club pick. Truth be told, it started off a little rocky - we weren't sure how we felt about this book. The first half of the book is very focused on learning how to say, "No." As many of us in the book club are introverts, we're already rather skilled at keeping a de-cluttered calendar, knowing how to not over-extend our introverted energies. In addition, it felt too analytical for those who truly want to follow God's direction and leading. She gives examples of listing out your available resurces and making a decision toward whether or not this is your "Best Yes" based on this list. As a Christian, I fully believe God has the ability to empower beyond what appear to be our current resources. If we feel led to give financially, I trust Him to fill the gap. If we feel led to use our time in a way that may seem overwhelming at first glance, we trust Him to provide the energy and space needed for the task. I felt as though she were overlooking that aspect - the ability of God to overcome what seem like obstacles to us. Finally, it just felt like her personal examples either weren't relevant or were thinly-veiled attempts to share about the neat things she's done (be "strong and courageous" to go down the red carpet? really?).

HOWEVER, that said, after we finished the second half of the book, most of us agreed it was better than we initially gave it credit for. She really pulled all of it together at the end to finally point out what our TRUE "Best Yes" is - seeking after God and choosing Love. Her point in teaching us to say no was teaching us how to leave ourselves available for those tasks God really is calling us to, so we're not too worn out or busy to notice them. We loved her emphasis on relationships (especially given the colder feeling of the beginning of the book) winning out over busy-ness.

Overall, a good read - even if we didn't always love everything!

Two Stars

Feel good message that cherry-picks the Bible to back up the Author. A Behavioral modification manual.

Worth the read!

Lysa TerKeurst is a talented, relatable, godly writer. I've enjoyed several of her studies and books in the past. I have to admit, I wasn't thrilled when my small group voted to read this one. I felt I had a handle on saying "yes" or "no" to opportunities in my life and ministries. However, this book opened my eyes to ways I could improve, and it discusses topics about saying "yes" or "no" that I hadn't even considered. God knows what He's doing 😊

So let me start with this simple statement. " unless you are christian this book is not for you" this book has nothing to do with logical techniques to take decisions in life it's all about if you beleive in god and Jesus as well the holy spirit so unless you are christian this book is not for you. I'll quote something from the book "her bible had been sitting on her shelf collecting dust for a couple of months" the author refer to being close to god and read bible will make you happy being away from bible will make you sad and take bad decisions in life. well what if I'm not christian in the first place? I respect bible and it might be holy thing for the author but not for me.

that should be written on the cover of the book. Moreover half of the book is about stories and fillers about things happened in the past with the author that have nothing to do with improving decision making in real life situations.

Such an amazing and eye opening book

Such an amazing and eye opening book. I really enjoyed how the book was written, Chapter 5 to this day has helped me with being able to recognize its okay to say no you aren't able to. The way Lysa writes her book keeps you pulled in and focused the whole time, I say this as someone who does not like to read but I love her books. I would highly recommend this book to any woman looking for the uplifting book that helps brighten your day

I feel like this author is very long winded

I feel like this author is very long winded, but if you like story telling and illustrations, then this book is for you. I wish that there were more verses to back up her points. That aside, I found the content to be very informative and helpful.
