  • The definitive biography of the NFL’s most enigmatic, controversial, and yet successful coach             Bill Belichick is perhaps the most fascinating figure in the NFL—the infamously dour face of one of the winningest franchises in sports. As head coach of the New England Patriots, he’s led the team to five Super Bowl championship trophies. In this revelatory and robust biography, readers will come to understand and see Belichick’s full life in football, from watching college games as a kid with his father, a Naval Academy scout, to orchestrating two Super Bowl–winning game plans as defensive coordinator for the Giants, to his dramatic leap to New England, where he has made history.             Award-winning columnist and

  • best-selling author Ian O’Connor delves into the mind of the man who has earned a place among coaching legends like Lombardi, Halas, and Paul Brown, presenting sides of Belichick that have been previously unexplored. O’Connor discovers how this legendary coach shaped the people he met and worked with in ways perhaps even Belichick himself doesn’t know. Those who follow and love pro football know Bill Belichick only as the hooded genius of the Patriots. But there is so much more—from the hidden tensions and deep layers to his relationship with Tom Brady to his sometimes frosty dealings with owner Robert Kraft to his ability to earn the unmitigated respect of his players—if not their affection. This is a man who has many facets and, ultimately, has created a notorious football dynasty. Based on exhaustive research and countless interviews, this book circles around Belichick to tell his full story for the first time, and presents an incisive portrait of a mastermind at work.

Nothing new here

I am a pats fan and wanted to like the book. However, seemed like a rehash of old news stories with no value added.

Not a valid source of information

This author never even interviewed Belichick for this book. Well known amongst fans that lots of these info are unconfirmed rumors. Ian O’Connor is at the bottom of any list for actual insider information about Patriots and Belichick.

The coach who went from despised by his players to well-liked and highly respected.

Are you interested in what makes this one-of-a-kind, unbelievably successful coach tick? This is the book that takes you from his Dad’s great influence on him through his Super Bowl wins, spygate and the deflated football scandals and everything in between. This 455 page documentary pulls no punches and takes no prisoners. You get the whole story: good, bad and sometimes ugly but always a page-turner. If you love the Patriots, read this book; if you don’t you will still want to get the full, all sides of the story analysis by the man who dug deep and long to get it right. A must read for all football fans, friends (in New England) and enemies (everywhere else) of the Pats alike.

Good Read

This is a good read IF you are are really curious about the Patriots and their coach. Don't expect it to read like a book written by a tallented author, he is not and you will quickly notice the difference. Having said that, it is filled with information you care about and probably enjoy learning. I bought this with the discount that Amazon offers for a pre-order, but I would not be happy if I had to pay the full price for this book instead of waiting for a used copy.

This Book is a Masterpiece !!!

This book will become one of the greatest sports masterpieces of all time. It’s hard to believe that in this day and age an author would spend three plus years traveling and conducting hundreds of interviews to get the story right. Bill Belechick should be very proud of the story about his life as written by Ian O’Connor. I could not put this book down until it was finished. I was very surprised at the humanity of this football genius. For many years I was not a fan of this coach. Over the last several years however, I Ihave come to the same conclusion as this author, which is,that Bill Belichick is the greatest football coach in NFL history. As much as I wanted that title to belong to Vince Lombardi, the torch has been passed.

Easy to see why he has been so successful.

This book provided great insight into the coach who has dominated the NFL for two decades. The additional insights on how the Patriots operate, how Belicheck was raised, and other stories from games make this a truly insightful page turner. I am a Falcons fan, but I am also an Alabama fan and I enjoyed hearing the behind the scenes connections between the Patriots and each Super Bowl and the Belicheck-Saban connection. I don't like the Patriots, but I do respect and enjoy reading about what makes exceptional organizations tick and this book provided some of that information as well. Great overall read!

Up To Date review of his career

Well researched, good update. The Halberstam book was comprehensive but now very out of date. This gives a lot more insight into the latest years of his career.

and I HATE the Patriots

But this is one hell of a great book, and maybe the most finely sourced book on any sports figure I've ever seen. Admittedly, there are times O'Connor gets so far in the weeds I had to turn the page, but otherwise it's brilliant. Flawed as he may be (and whom among us isn't?) this book underlines the fact the BB will go down as the greatest football coach in NFL history - and I despise the Patriots - but this is true.
