BEACHSIDE BEGINNINGS, like the others, is a stand-alone novel, but it’s great fun to catch up on the lives of familiar characters who pop in and out of each other’s lives and stories. Any reader of Sheila Roberts knows and looks forward to the lively dialog and rich relationships that are a trademark of this talented writer.
Everyone loves a great makeover, which usually starts with the hair. In the case of Moira - the heroine of this book, she’s already got FABULOUS hair! It’s the rest of her life that’s in desperate need of making over. A hair stylist who specializes in hair coloring, Moira is humiliated and frightened; but has been forced to admit she’s in an abusive relationship. The excuses and denial have come to end, however, since her sweet and helpless cat has become a target for her abusive boyfriend.
The author has skillfully conveyed the seriousness of the subject matter and created a resilient, relatable heroine while also delivering a fun and uplifting look at a charming coastal town inhabited by great characters ... flawed, funny, and just “regular folk” you’d want to meet in your own life.

I love this book and this series. Sheila writes great characters. This one she made you wait until almost the end for the situation you knew was going to happen! I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for it. And the two sensitive subjects encountered in this book were handled exceptionally well. Thank you for addressing both Sheila!! They need to be addressed, and you made both situations go from the characters feeling bad about themselves, to putting the blame where it belongs!! Great job!!

I have been following the Moonlight Harbor gang thru three books and this is the 4th. I received this book three days ago and just finished it! I love the series, but this is by far my favorite book in it! Moira is someone you can't help but love and want only the best for. I hope she shows up in the future.....I'm anxious for Spring 2021 to see.

Well, after having read this book, I want to start a new beginning too! I enjoyed reading Roberts’ portrayal of Moonlight Harbor with its cutesy shops and seaside charm. The heartwarming interactions between Moira and her new neighbors make me want to have a Tyrella or a Pearl in my life. I really liked the overlapping theme of new starts between all of the characters. From reading Beachside Beginnings I can tell that weaving all of her character’s stories into one is a strong suit of hers, which I imagine is no easy thing to do. There is also a strong “realness” to her characters’ personalities which makes it easy to become invested in the story.
However, there is one main problem that bugged me as I got further into the book, and that is the lack of physical descriptions character-wise. Normally I don’t think this is a huge deal (even though I do appreciate them) but when your characters work in a salon and appearances play a big role in your story, this lack of descriptions does not do any favors. Aside from Victor, I couldn’t get a good mental image of what the characters were supposed to look like and had to improvise in my mind’s eye. While this in no way makes the book unreadable, it is annoying for a reader to try and “fill in the gaps” so to speak. That being said, I’d like to mention that Roberts does excel at describing the many hair colors and styles of her characters. If Roberts could put the effort into describing the facial and body types of her characters like she does their hair and outfits, it would be a significant improvement for her writing.
It was only until I was a good ways into the book that I realized this is the 4th installment of a series. Fortunately, I had no trouble following the story even though there were quite a few people to keep track of, which I assume Roberts introduced gradually throughout her previous books. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the installments of Beachside Beginnings and discovering how the residents of Moonlight Harbor grow on their paths!

Moira Wellman needs to make a new start. Her boyfriend Lang has become (or was he always?) abusive. It wasn't bad enough that he was abusive to Moira, but when he turns his anger toward, Harry Pawter, Moira's cat, it's time for a change. A big change in a small coastal town called Moonlight Harbor. Moira has a tough time finding it on a map, but when she gets there, she finds a whole new world awaits.
Sheila Roberts does it again! By the bottom of the first page, you'll be hooked! Moonlight Harbor is just the place for a book getaway! I'm looking forward to the next installment!

If your looking for a review, you have already read what the story is about, but I will tell you that it was one heck of a good story and worth your while to read. I'm sure glad that I did. Sheila Roberts knows how to tell a good story
