About the Author Mike Polsgrove has been writing Model Railroader magazine s DCC Corner column since 2003. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and has worked as the motive power electrical engineer for two railroads. Since 1989, he has been designing digital electronic circuits for Eagle Test Systems. Mike has been a model railroader since the 1960s, and he is currently constructing his fourth layout.

Could have been better

A not very enlightening book for the DCC beginner. It says how much better DCC is over 'standard' DC control buts ends up confusing the issue by being so vague as to be next to useless. Some aspects are aimed at the more complicated installation of this type of system which is fine except the author seems to forget he's talking to the beginner. Save you money and do a 'Google' search on the topic with better (and less expensive) results.

I believe this is about the best book on this subject around (not that I have all of them though). It is clear, answers most all of my questions about DCC and seems fairly up to date. Not often the case with model RR publications. I am sure it will help me make DCC work for me. Worth the money.

The RIGHT book for DCC beginners

I bought this book thinking it would cover the basic DCC details - what surprised me was that each section in the book covered the questions I had a bout DCC. So it's a well thought out and clearly explained book.

Would recommend it to newbies.

A Good Basic Guide - Need to Check Vendor Sites for Updates as You Read

The book arrived on time and in good condition. It is a good introduction to implementing DCC for your model railroad. As with many technical books the vendors continue to introduce new and improved modules almost constantly so you are well advised to read the book with your web browser open so you can check for revisions and updates as you go along. Even with this caveat I am well pleased with this book.
