Messy and Unbelievable

i want to begin by saying that this novel contains the same flaws I complained about in the author's first three novels in this series. I figured time would take care of the problems, but here we are with Book 16 and it's the same. The author seems to lack confidence in the main action so insists on throwing another at us, often with a very improbable link. The result is that characters are under-developed and it becomes difficult to understand their motivations. And why is it that in EVERY SINGLE NOVEL two people meet and, in one, two, or three days the man proposes marriage. EVERY ONE! Who does that?
Now, back to this particular novel: In Washington, DC, Savich receives a vague threat. In San Francisco, Judge Ramsey Hunt is shot by a sniper. That's the last we will hear about the threat until near the end of this book. There is a convoluted theme involving murder, information technology theft and the disappearance of an attorney which was under-explained. And then, out of the blue,(SPOILER ALERT) a second suspect shows up with a totally different motive, and actually teams up with the first suspect. Confused? Me too. We also have to believe that a poorly educated person, straight out of prison, has the money to follow her target across country and hatch intricate plans to seek revenge. And if you haven't read the previous Ramsey Hunt novel, you won't understand the motive at all. Lastly, Coulter finishes with her usual whirlwind romance and a marriage proposal. At least this one took three or four days. This author needs to decide if she is a writer of thrillers or a romance novelist.

WILL PUT YOU TO SLEEP

I don't know what the other reviewers consider riveting or thriller. I'd bet the publisher or her friends write the thriller reviews here. I got half way through and threw the book in the trash waiting for the thrilling to kick in. Page after page of worthless conversations. She must have some kind of fixation on ponytails. Total waste of money even at $6.00.

Yuk

I couldn't finish this. I kept waiting for the story to accelerate, but the author spent too many pages on the judge in the hospital, and it moved ever so slowly from there. I didn't care for her style of writing. Couldn't get into the characters.

Coulter is a boring writer.

This book is inane, the characters Sherlock and Savich are boring, dialogue is sappy. But my main complaint against Coulter's writing is that idealizes "white" features while describing Asian features as less desirable and ugly. It's frankly very offensive and I can tell she is an older writer. Perhaps Ms. Coulter should look in the mirror and lose some weight. I have never liked her books and this will be the last one I (almost) finished.

Backfire

The book was to long and boring, it should have ended when they caught the terrorist. Also, my big dislike of the book was the unrealistic dialogue of the 3 year old twins and the adult role of the eleven year old. The book was also poorly written, I felt like it was written for people who read on a 3rd grade level. The other part of the book that I found to be unrealistic, was the FBI moving the child's piano into the safe house so she could practice for her concert with the Symphony Orchestra.

Just OK ...

I picked up this book in paperback in a small town drug store where I was stuck for a day and had no internet access. It seemed like the best option in a very limited selection and I've been a fan of police/investigation novels in the past (Connelly's Harry Bosch series in particular).

Although the book did keep me entertained for a number of hours, I found the plot unbelievable particularly as the storyline developed. The ending is completely unbelievable and borderline ludicrous. I also found most of the characters to be fairly one dimensional and, given the number of characters, none were very well developed. The author also made personnel from different agencies (FBI, U.S. Marshall, SFPD) work together unrealistically well ... no real turf battles or other conflict that could have made the book more interesting. There were some annoying aspects of the book particularly related to Eve's appearance and the "conversations" between the adults and young children that seem totally unrealistic.

Bottom line is that the book did the job I purchased it for ... to keep me from being totally bored for a day. However, given a wider array of choices, I doubt I would pick up another novel by this author.
