As always, a practical guide, though I still think that a new issue every year is over the top. Would be nice to see this as a loose-leaf that can be updated with new additions and changes instead of entire volumes that are basically useless after a few years. Also: Oxford comma, PLEASE AP. It will make writing SO much more accurate.

Include a CD with this book and we'd all be happy!

Helpful as always. Book is getting much thicker nowadays. Would like to see a CD included so we can search on our computer. I know you're trying to send people to your website, but I think we'd pay a little extra to have a cd that was searchable along with the book.

AP Stylebook Has Everything You Need to Understand and Use Newspaper Style

If you do any freelance writing at all, or if you've just wondered what newspaper style is when you want to send newspapers a press release, then The Associated Press Stylebook gives you over 500 pages of information on AP style--which is what newspapers go by when they publish. This reference book covers everything, in A-Z fashion, including numerical style, abbreviations, punctuation, capitalization, and more. It even tells you how to reference religions and churches, sports reports, fashion and foods. A quick briefing on media law is also included and very helpful. As a journalist who used to sort through press releases to decide which ones to use, I also know that this book could be immensely useful to clubs and social organizations--as well as public institutions such as colleges and schools-- because the closer your press release style is to AP style, the more likely that it will be used. I purchased this book at full price to do editing in my current job.

Bears uncanny resemblance in form to other books of various titles

After using this book for a year, I am finally prepared to offer perhaps the most groundbreaking review available for the 2015 AP Stylebook.

The cover performs well, protecting the interior pages (especially the first page) from exposure to dust and perhaps a light mist. The texture of the cover is pleasing, like the sensation of receiving a massage from a brick layer or deep sea fisherman. The book stores best lying down unless pressed vertically between other books. This lack of vertical fortitude is likely due to the non-rigid cover, but it doesn't spoil the function of the product.

Inside, you will find a lot of words, generally listed alphabetically. Most of these words will be familiar to English speakers, especially to those engaged in a writing or communications profession. I found the inclusion of "heaven" on p. 122 to be especially helpful (spoiler alert: it is not a proper noun). And don't accuse the AP of being out of touch with the times; entries such as "crowdsourcing" (p. 67) and "Uber" (p. 271) help wordsmiths express our modern times in ways no Internet resource could.

This review gives only four stars, but not to the product per se, rather, the publishers. Half a star is deducted for choosing not to use a comb or spiral binding. Am I expected to type with one hand while holding the book open with the other? And which hand would be relegated to each task? The other half star is deducted for choosing to make the digital version available only to iphone and ipod owners. Apparently, your Android-equipped customers (a significant population of digital users in this country) aren't as important. Had you chosen to listen to your Android user base these past years, I would be utilizing this particular moment to do something more gratifying, such as writing or catching a few more minutes of sleep.

I bought this book for an AP Style Grammar class but was glad to add it to my bookshelf. I learned a lot about AP Style and acceptable grammar usage for this book. I would recommend it for anyone who uses social media and wants to improve their grammar.
