Clear, conscise and instructive

The book is a very quick overview of what is zen buddhism, although it bases more in what is not zen.

Good Book

It's a nice read but I'm starting to doubt Kindle as I like to look ahead and see pictures in the book.

Zen from all angles

Suzuki does an excellent job of presenting Zen from both an intellectual aspect (or rather why it can't be seen from this angle) and the heart of Zen in the real world. Plenty of history is given to support and supplement his explanations of various topics, but it never feels like reading a history book. After discussing what Zen is and what Zen isn't on a spiritual level he continues to elaborate on how it is practiced and how it shapes the daily lives of both the monks and laymen who follow Zen.

Bottom Line: If you have interest in Zen as a whole this is the book.
