Description

"I know of no others who see so much of heaven's supernatural provision, who exercise such Kingdom authority and who daily live in absolute dependence on the faithfulness of God." Is God still in the business of miracles? Does He still multiply food, send financial resources where there were none, heal the sick, even raise the dead? Always Enough shows that all of these things, and more, happen today as they did in biblical times. Even the most desperate poverty, the most devastating illness and the most heart-wrenching grief are not beyond His help. As you follow the adventures of missionaries Rolland and Heidi Baker in Mozambique-ravaged by civil war and famine to become one of the poorest places on earth-you'll be awed by God's limitless power and tender provision. The account of how He has enabled the Bakers to help many hundreds of Mozambique's throwaway children and start an astounding five thousand churches will warm your heart and move you to tears. The simple practice of "ministering to the one" and choosing to trust God daily unleashes great power to change any situation. So come along on the journey! Witness what God is doing in one of the poorest nations on earth, then invite Him to work His miracles in your own life. Rolland Baker and his wife, Heidi, are the founders of Iris Global (www.irisglobal.org), whose mission is to bring the Kingdom of God to earth by "stopping for the one"--the poor, broken, destitute or forgotten. After serving as missionaries in Indonesia and Hong Kong, the Bakers followed God's call to Mozambique in southeast Africa in 1995. Through their ministry, they watch God provide miraculously for well over 10,000 children every day, plus many more through the Iris network of more than 15,000 churches, Bible schools, primary schools and remote outreach programs. They live in Mozambique, Africa. There is ALWAYS Enough

WOW! Yesterday (February 24)was the final day of the 2006 convening of International Apostolic Ministries (the body that ordained Suzanne and me). Heidi Baker, of Iris Ministries, ministered to us, morning and evening.

Heidi and her husband, Rolland Baker, minister to multitudes in Mozambique. They feed, clothe, and house the poor, preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ to them. They have seen countless miracles of provision and healing. Heidi's testimony is summed up by the title of her book: Always Enough.

Heidi's a.m. message to us was on multiplication (as in Jesus feeding the 5,000). The take-away point that impressed itself upon me is that there is ALWAYS enough of everything--that's why Jesus came. If we will go to the Lord every day to eat and drink of Him, there will always be enough to love and take care of all those God has set before us.

Her p.m. message was that God wants us to be His house. If we will surrender everything to Him, He will come and fill us with Himself--the greatest treasure. That is our job: to let Him fill us. The position of ministers (and all His people are called to be His ministers) is this, to quote Heidi: "lower still."

The message and testimony of Heidi and Rolland Baker is very powerful. It will stir you up and spur you on to mighty exploits for God.

This was a decent book

I really enjoyed reading about what God has done/is doing through the Baker's ministry; a lot of the testimonials were excellent.
I was not so much a fan of some of the written style: Often it seemed they were trying to get across the major difficulties faced by the nation on a large scale, but generally in a way completely lacking in style. Undoubtedly, the attempt was to show these trails on the large, national, scale - yet I often felt like I was merely reading lists of statistics rather than seeing the graphic depiction (I think they were going for), which would have more readily drawn the reader in to the reality of the situation. They did subsidize the statistics with more personal testimonials (as I mentioned above), which were really what kept the book going most of the time.
The other aspect of the written style I was not a fan of was that I often felt like the author (mainly Heidi (she and Rolland wrote chapters off and on)) was often too 'preachy.' I get that the point is to motivate the reader into action, but most people reading a book like this are already people who want to be in the action, besides, most of the content of testimonials is fairly challenging to the average Christian reader as it is.

A window into Africa

This book is structured almost like an adventure story, with episodes written by Heidi and Rolland Baker. The book so well gave me a glimpse into the horrid circumstances in Mozambique and the real joy people found from living with Jesus in the midst of those circumstances. It highlighted my own status of wealth which I let distract me from the Kingdom of Heaven. Highly recommended as a view of living with Jesus in developing nations.

The good report....

Interesting, comprehensive report on what is happening in the natural and in the realm of the spirit, among the children of Mozambique... Stirs you to, at the very least, participate in prayer!

BETTER THAN I ANTICIPATED

I was somewhat familiar with Heidi and Rolland Baker's ministry which is quite remarkable so I didn't expect the book to be as impactful to me as it was. They have an unbelievable story to tell and they have responded to God at a level that most people would only seek to do. If you want to know what it's like to have nothing in your life except God (i.e. your clothes are gone, your house is underwater, you have no money, etc.) then this is a story you will want to read. It's really an exciting read.

They are like Catherine and William Booth, the founders of the Salvation Army ... but Mozambique style!!! Lots of Love ...

It is a great book .... I wish they would make it longer and more detailed though ....especially how they got started ... they have a deep compassion for the poor and great evangelistic hearts .... They show the Jesus Film everywhere ....giving the salvation message, ... serve the poor, serve the orphans, help the destitute, the sick, the imprisoned .... very biblical ....

God Bless,
