All Things New - Bible Study Book: A Study on 2 Corinthians

Looking for something that will help you study the Word for 15 minutes a day? I love this study because there are 5 days of homework a week (roughly 3 pages of material per day), walks you through a chunk of scripture (5-10 verses a day) and gives great application questions. There is room to go deeper if you want, but it's just right for a busy momma or someone that needs a structured quiet time. This has been so great for me in my current season of life.

Excellent! In-depth study of the book of 2nd Corinthians full of historical detail, commentary, and practical application. THis study hit me at the core. I needed it. There were so many places of conviction but the author speaks with such grace and wisdom that you can’t help but take what you’re convicted about to the feet of Jesus. Love this study. Worth every second it took to complete.

Excellent, Kelly is a great writer, down to earth connecting with so many women wanting to better understand and apply scripture to our lives today.

This is a delightful and friendly study of 2 Corinthians that's meant to accompany eight videos of Kelly Minter teaching. It's designed for group study, but would be fine for individual study (though the videos may be cost prohibitive). It begins with a Session 1 viewer guide and group discussion questions about the first video, which offers background on the city of Corinth and how it relates to typical cities today. Each of the seven chapters thereafter has a two page introduction, five daily studies of about five pages each for participants to complete at home, a viewer guide to be used while watching the video at the next meeting, ~6 group discussion questions on the video, and a recipe.

I led a small group at my church through the study. Kelly Minter explains the material well and successfully ties the themes to women's lives today (for example, dealing with difficult people). There is a good balance of questions that help understanding and questions that aid personal application. It is a lot of material to get through in just seven weeks so some parts of the letter are passed over quickly, while others are handled with more depth. At times the women in my group had questions that aren't answered in the material, but that's the case with most studies.

The videos are homey and warm, often adding material that isn't in the book (which makes them important to the study). Some videos merely added personal stories to the teaching already in the book. Kelly Minter comes across as honest and vulnerable, and I appreciate that she's speaking as a single woman with no children since so many women share one or both of those circumstance with her.

There's a leader guide at the back which suggests this meeting format: (1) ask five or six questions that review the homework; (b) watch the video; (c) discuss the provided questions on the video; and (d) close with a final sharing time and prayer. I prefer more emphasis on the homework questions and we split the homework over two weeks, so I did this instead: (a) watch the video; (b) discuss 3 of the provided questions on the video; (c) discuss ~10 questions from half the homework; and (d) close with prayer; on the next week, we listened to live teaching in place of the video and discussed that in place of the video discussion questions.

On the flip side, the daily homework runs 30 to 40 minutes, which is a bit much for many women (our church split most chapters over two weeks); I would have preferred a longer book with shorter daily lessons. The questions often hadn't enough space for an answer. The suggested questions in the leader guide didn't always have exact counterparts in the homework, which is fine for a group whose members are well familiar with the Bible, but challenging for participants for whom the material is all new, so I usually substituted the most similar question from the homework to make them easier for participants.

The women in my small group loved the study, as did I. I heartily recommend it accompanied by the videos.
