Description

The author uses adorably cute photos of dogs to illustrate common traits of ADHD. This book will be a helpful addition to the professional library because it can serve as a tool to help children or adults to understand what it may be like to live with ADHD. -- Jaime Parker, Librarian, Irving Independent School District, Irving, TXTwo books (All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome and All Dogs Have ADHD both by Kathy Hoopmann) that use a novel, photographic approach to exploring the characteristic personality traits of ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome... Must-have titles for parents with children diagnosed with either of these conditions, and also for Special Needs co-ordinators and Inclusion Manager... Both highly recommended. -- ACHUKA children's blogall dogs have ADHD is part of a picture book series along with all cats have Asperger's syndrome, exploring through images the challenges of living with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in a gentle and humorous way. The pictures and captions present life situations with a thoughtful understanding and focus, too, on positive ways' to channel an ADHD child's energy and talents. -- British Psychological Society, DebateThis sequel to All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome takes the same approach, matching adorable animal photos with the particular traits of children with the disorder. It's an extremely accessible formula, and one that has the potential not only to inform, but to make kids with ADHD feel better about themselves by comparison to such cool critters. -- About.comI would commend this book as an excellent work to alleviate patients' and parents' concerns, and to introduce the condition to those who may be having difficulty seeing any positives in their lives at the time of diagnosis. -- ADHD in PracticeThis is an absorbing and insightful photo-illustrated read, which takes a really refreshing approach to understanding ADHD. This is an uplifting book for anyone, but especially dog lovers, and those wanting to help children they know with ADHD. -- EYE Early Years EducatorIt is a book that parents and children can look at together. The photographs are wonderful and suit the dialogue. It is bright and optimistic and implies, with the right help, the child with ADHD will do well. The book also explains the syndrome clearly in simple photographs. The lettering and dialogue are clear and understandable... It is a lovely happy book. -- Hyperactive Childrens Support GroupAlthough All Dogs Have ADHD is categorized as juvenile literature, and will certainly appeal to many children, I highly recommend it as a "treatment" for tired parents of children with ADD/ADHD and other special needs -- after all, laughter heals." -- ADDitude: Living Well with Attention DeficitClearly the author writes from personal experience as she understands the issue so well. This book would give encouragement and reassurance to a child who has been diagnosed with ADHD and the light-hearted insights into the condition would be helpful for parents and siblings as well. -- Home Education Advisory ServiceAbsorbing and delightful, this book, with its vivid and amusing photography, takes a refreshing approach to understanding ADHD. It combines humour with understanding to reflect the joys and challenges of raising a child who is different. -- Northern Rivers magazineAll Dogs Have ADHD, like its predecessor, All Cats Have Asperger's Syndrome (Hoopmann, 2006) is designed as a teaching aid to help young children to understand their classmates' behaviour or, if you prefer, behavioural disorders. Hyper dogs

What a gem of a book! As with "All cats have Asperger syndrome", the author manages to explain about ADD and ADHD with simple sentences. The result is an informative book which in few pages basically say the same as many experts need hundreds of pages to express. This book is full of charm and humour. The concept may seem childish, the result is not.

My diagnosis is AS, yet I recognised myself in several statements in this one, leading me to suspect even stronger that I have ADD as well as AS.

This is an excellent read for anyone who have one of the conditions and for those who deals with them, in the family or at work/school.

If you simply like dogs without being very interested in ADHD, you'll still enjoy this one, as there are lovely dogs on every page!

I love this book

I love this book, but my students with intellectual and learning disabilities think it's to long. It takes about 2 to 3 readings to get through it and it really does not hold their interest.

Kids Loved It!

My teenage students with ADHD truly identified with the various doggie moods that they themselves have experienced, and didn't feel embarrassed to talk about those things with each other.

Sloberiffic

This book gives you a real glimpse into the child's world in a humourous and delightful manner...Allowing the child, parents, family and educators to put ADHD in perspective and simplify rather than complicate their responses. Your child, though far more intelligent than an animal, needs to have compassion, humour and love to grow into the very amazing person they are meant to be. A pictorial view with an accurate message...Keep your approach simple and do not write the child off. Bless the author...I found it worth more than a thousand words!

Great for any dog lover

This book is perfect for anyone who is a dog lover and has ADHD. It is really funny to see how dogs act very much like a person with ADHD. Even if you're not a dog lover this book does explain ADHD in a way that makes sense.

A Have-to-Have Read in my Office

Kept this book and its companion in my office (Special Education Coordinator). Both parents and students enjoyed the pictures and the great comparisons. You could literally see them relax and they fingered through it. Wouldn't give it and it the "Cat book" up for a million bucks.

Adorable!!! Until my dog ate it...

Very lovely and adorable book, read it through laughing and on the verge of tears as soon as I got it. The next day, our four month old Great Dane had gotten a hold of it and the pages were everywhere!! Apparently he didn't like the fact that someone decided to tell humans that all dogs have ADHD!!

Understand Dogs Better, and Understand Kids Better

This is the sort of simple language and words-and-pictures book normally assumed to be for children, and I would not hesitate to give it to a child. Still, I think it's at least as much for adults, especially those who live with or around a child with ADHD. Or perhaps a child one suspects might have such a "disorder" but has not been diagnosed.

Fact is, the term should be Attention Deficit Hyperactive DIFFERENCE, not disorder. As with Asperger's Syndrome (which all cats have), it's a description of a particular type of kid who may occasionally drive adults crazy, but is also very lovable and interesting. As pointed out on page 58, some very impressive geniuses have been ADHD types as children. Given a chance to grow and develop in their own way, they are a marvelous addition to the mix that is the human race.
