The first part of the book is about Sage being an author going to signings and getting stalked; which is an actual plot. The second part of the book is where he character Roark comes to like and she starts a submissive relationship with him. But YIKES, the Dom does no after care, he is pretty much just a sadist, who supposedly is protecting her. He insets a b**T plug into her while she is past out from being strangled. That is NOT the worse thing he does to Sage. Holding her underwater to teach her a lesson. UMMM….. NO AND NO!! I finished the book but wish I hadn’t

Within an hour of her almost dying due to a murder attempt, the male MC rapes the semi conscious female MC. But it's ok because he's perfect for her! Rilly!
Also, maybe learn a bit about what actually happens when a person is garrotted. It doesn't just leave a welt. Deep eye roll.
Awful.

I was completely enthralled by this story, as I hadn't read much except for a short blurb, so I was surprised at how the story progressed.
Sage is a famous writer with an overbearing publisher, hundreds of reader fans, and a not-so-secret desire to change what she's writing, despite the fact that her books have sold millions. Her main character, Roark, is her ideal man, but she's not looking for a real-life partner. However, her books have spurred a stalker who is getting too close - and too sinister - so she needs protection.
I can honestly say that this book surprised and intrigued me. It was well-written, and the characters certainly fit well together. The only drawback for me was how intense the last third of the story got; without giving spoilers, let me just say that it was a deeper dive into the lifestyle than I was expecting. Overall, though, this book was really enjoyable.

A real engaging fantastic book. From the first page I could not put it down.
The story is not what your expecting so many twists and turns that keeps you on the edge of your seat turning pages excited to see what happens next.
The characters have so much chemistry, so easy to imagine in your head.
I would definitely recommend this to all who want to get lost in a great book

I wish my hero’s of the books I read would hop out of the pages like they did for Sage!
Excellent book. Thoroughly enjoyed it but already knew the villain of the piece before they were released in the book. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Delta James begins her Savoy series by gently drawing her readers into a world of a rather successful writer of erotic romances struggling with completing another fairly formulaic adventure for her trademark hero.

A series of increasingly disturbing threats, which our female main character tries to brush away, but which gain the interest of her local sheriff's officers open up a view into nefarious happenings.

Eventually our main travels to book fairs, signing sessions, and reader meetings allowing us to see her real personality and to learn about her relationship with her publisher. When they travel to an event in London we begin to see the more unique features of her world.

The character development is artful and not unexpected. Overall this is a great read that kept me glued to my tablet. Very highly recommended to anyone who enjoys a touch of mystery and a large amount of steam with their romances.

A writer can create a hero who is a dominant male without making him a controlling abuser. Tolerating that behavior from one’s partner is akin to mental illness so why glamorize the abusive behavior as something sexy and enjoyable? No grown woman should have to stand in a corner, have her mouth washed out with soap, be told where to be, and be beaten by a man. This kind of book sets women back centuries. Boring and vanilla are better than abuse.

I love the suspense and mystery! I'm not gonna lie I tried to read this a few times (I have ADHD) and eventually didn't an audiobook. But once I got into it and understood the journey I became obsessed! so good! If your like me and have problems getting into deeper plots, it was so worth the few retrys it took me!

Delta James knows how to write sexy stories with twists and turns. Advance starts a bit slow but quickly heats up in both suspense and steam. The outcome was predictable but the events were not. I like the concept of Sage’s main hero coming to life. It’s unique and I love that it wasn’t easy for Roark to do so. I’m interested to se how the rest of this series plays out and if Sage’s other characters who also escaped their literary bonds get their HEA’s as well.

Sage Matthews is a successful romance writer, living in a Mansion in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. But starnge things happen, she gets threatening letters et al. And then is the other side of the Veil where some beings waiting to free themselves. Bring they danger to Sage too?
An intriguing story, unique, told in the third pov that took me a minute to get into it.
The story continues in the next instalment.
All in all, highly entertaining, well written, unique.
