In the third book of the Rocky Creek Romance series we meet Lucy Fairbanks, a feisty female photographer Though the storyline drags a little in the beginning, it picks up and redeems itself and becomes a satisfying read. -- Romantic Times"Margaret Brownley's historical romance novels have a great balance of humour, love and intrigue and A Vision of Lucy continues that trend...this is a fun, sweet story with some more serious elements surrounding David's heritage and racial prejudice... Fans of Mary Connealy and Karen Witemeyer will certainly enjoy A Vision for Lucy and Margaret's other stories." -- Relz Reviews
Features & Highlights
Trouble follows Lucy wherever she goes. So does a vision of second chances . . . and love.
Lucy Fairbanks dreams of working as a photographer at the Rocky Creek newspaper. Her deepest hope is that her father will see her as an artist, the way he thought of her deceased mother, whose paintings still hang on their walls.
But disaster follows Lucy on every photo assignment: a mess of petticoats and ribbons, an accidental shooting, even a fire.
When Lucy meets David Wolf—a rugged, reclusive man who lives on the outskirts of town—she thinks she can catch the attention of the town with his photograph. She doesn't count on her feelings stirring whenever she's near him.
Two things happen next that forever change the course of Lucy's life. But will these events draw her closer to God or push her further away? And how will David accept this new vision of Lucy?

A Vision of Lucy
by Margaret Brownley
A enjoyable read set in the west about a lady photographer. A good book that addresses discrimination and acceptance. The author did a good job describing scenes and events so that you were drawn into the story.
Even though this is the third in a series it stands alone. I will go back and read the earlier books to find out more about some of the characters.
Thank you, Mrs. Brownley for a very well written book!

A pleasant read
This is my first book to read by Margaret Brownley. A Vision of Lucy is the third book in the Rocky Creek series. Having not read the first two, I have to say that I did not feel that this novel was dependent on the first two to know who the characters were. After reading the afterward by the author, I realized that some of the characters mentioned were from the previous story lines, but the plot of this book was not affected by it.
This book was just an average read for me. I certainly did not hate the book, but it was not my favorite either. It took me longer to become intereseted in the story and I felt like a lot of the plot was somewhat predictable. I had guessed what was going to happen well before it was written. I never felt that I connected with the characters in the story.
There are some really good points made in the book about forgiveness and exposing the truth. There are some funny moments in the book as the main character is somewhat accident prone and trouble seems to follow her.
Lucy Fairbanks is a young lady who is determined to succeed in her artistic profession as a photographer. In a time where women are expected to get married and raise children, this is quite a challenge for her. Her photography endeavors lead her from the top of a tree onto a stagecoach that is being robbed and into the arms of a handsome rescuer. Lucy immediately feels a connection to David, the "wild man" who comes to her rescue on more than one occasion. David is part Indian and part white and feels like he doesn't fit in either world. He is hesitant to bring Lucy into his situation because he feels it is unfair to ask her to be treated the way he is. David is also a man with many secrets. Lucy is unsure if she can completely trust David because she has grown up with a father who has kept secrets from her. Despite these obstacles, their romance begins to blossom anyway.
The author has a pleasant writing style and developed the story line well, but for some reason, there was nothing about the book that really stood out to me.
I was provided with a copy of this book by BookSneeze and was not obligated to provide a positive or negative review.

My Favorite Rocky Creek Romance yet!!
I loved A Vision of Lucy by Margaret Brownley! Such a delightful story in the Rocky Creek Romance series! A Vision of Lucy is about Lucy Fairbanks, a young lady who has a passion for photography. Lucy strongly believes that the camera can capture more truth than the human eye and she longs to do something important with her talent as a photographer! Then there is the hero David, whom I just adored. He is a quiet, rustic man who lives on the outskirts of Rocky Creek and is struggling with what to do about the past that is haunting him. Lucy and David meet and the truths they discover will forever change their lives and the lives of others!
I couldn't get enough of this wonderful story! Margaret Brownley does such an amazing job with connecting the reader to the plot and to the characters. The plot was very different so once I started reading I never wanted to put the book down. The characters were all noteworthy and fun; my favorite character would have to be babbling and loveable Lucy. At times, I literally laughed out loud with the hilarious predicaments that Lucy found herself in. David was also a wonderful character that I longed to embrace and help him deal with his internal battles.
I enjoyed the history on photography; I never realized how dangerous photography was until I read A Vision of Lucy. I also enjoyed all the other historical lessons throughout the book and the spiritual threads as well. The spiritual tones were mild but I felt like they were much needed to make the story more enjoyable. The romance was sweet although very passionate, the kissing scenes were delicious! This story has everything desirable; romance, mystery, spiritual lessons, and history! I highly recommend A Vision of Lucy, along with the other Rocky Creek Romances.
Thomas Nelson publishers made this ARC available for me to review with no stipulations or requirements. My review is not biased by the fact that I was given this book. I honestly read and review any book whether bought or given to me. If I did not like the book I would definitely not recommend it.

Entertaining and Well Written!
Lucy Fairbanks could never have dreamt that her dream of becoming a photo-journalist would have landed her on top of a stagecoach . . . . in the middle of the woods .. . in the middle of an armed robbery. The ensuing wild ride lands her somewhere far more dangerous, however; landing at the feet of a handsome hero, who for all intents and purposes is a rather wild man himself. And catching him in a photograph could quite possibly secure her future as the Rocky Creek newspaper. Never would she have suspected that the end result would be quite opposite for her, and for the reclusive David Wolfe.
David Wolfe has returned to Rocky Creek after many years of transient living, in order to find answers about the cruel act that he endured as a young boy, which nearly killed him and ultimately stole his identity. Left on the doorsteps of a local mission as an infant, his bi-racial status has long ostracized him from both the Indian and white communities. Meeting a blond beauty on a runaway stage has left Wolfe in a quandary; could she possibly be trusted to help him and what purpose would it serve in the long run, if their friendship could never deepen into love? But he hardly has time to figure it out before he is a man on the run from local justice, after being accused of a crime that he did not commit.
"A Vision of Lucy" is the final book in Margaret Brownley's very entertaining and well-written "Rocky Creek Romance" series; each with endearing characters, inspirational depth and stirring romance. It will take the efforts of this entire community to solve the decades old mystery surrounding David Wolfe and the power of forgiveness to transform revenge into restoration.

A Fun Book!
I just finished reading A Vision of Lucy by Margaret Brownley and loved it! This is book three in the Rocky Creek Romance Series. I haven't read the other two, but after reading this book I think I will. Margaret did a wonderful job weaving a story that brought you laughs, sighs, and tears. She's a master at stirring your emotions as you get to know the characters of her book.
Lucy is an aspiring photographer. Her dream is to take pictures for a big newspaper. But trouble and mishaps seem to follow her where ever she goes. Think I Love Lucy. Sometimes Ms. Brownley has you laughing at Lucy's troubles while other times you're either gasping or sitting on the edge of your seat wondering how she's going to get out of this mess.
Then there is David. Tall, dark, and handsome. A man with a past that has brought him much pain. He's part Indian and part white man. He fits in neither worlds. He's come to face his past at Rocky Creek, but when he comes he runs into Lucy and she makes him want to be a part of a world that he isn't accepted in. When people disappear everyone is first to point the finger at him. He needs help and turns to the only person he can trust...Lucy.
This story has wonderful historical details. Learn about the women's fight to vote, the prejudice against races, and the problems and opinions of early photography. I highly recommend this book.
