Stick with CJ Sansom

I'm afraid I disagree with the other reviews here. I think Ms Gregory's book rambles on too long and gets bogged down in too many plots and couterplots, making it hard to keep track. I don't feel she always gets the atmosphere right and sometimes question the accuracy of certain details of the period. Also, in places, this particular story is just too far-fetched and unbelievable. Chaloner seems almost as blessed as James Bond, or even a 'super-hero', able to escape from the most ludicrous situations with just the occasional scratch. Despite all this, I've given it three stars; it has its moments! But if you want to see how this kind of writing should be done, read CJ Sansom's Matthew Shardlake novels.
