Not up to her usual writing

I have read all of Robyn Carr. This book was a big disappointment to me. Slow, redundant.

Nice outline, wish I could have read a whole book

Let me start out by saying that Robyn Carr is one of my top 3 favorite authors (RC, Linda Howard, Nora Roberts). She is amazing at telling emotional and compelling stories with fully developed characters that remain with me long after I finish the last page. Except for this one. "A Family Affair" never really got past feeling like an "outline" of what should have been another great Robyn Carr book for me. The characters never clicked with me...Anna or her jerk of a husband. And I didn't care for the children at all. Only physical description I remember for anyone is her elderly mother kept her hair the same brassy red she always had. I really, really wanted to get invested in these characters, and kept on til the very end, hoping I'd have a change of heart. I was just happy I finished it.

Faulty printing

Issue with the printing of book.

Thirty pages then list of other books by author, publication info..., then first thirty pages again. Then a jump from page 32 to 65 so those pages are missing.

Sadly, I didn't start reading until the 30 day return period was up.

There's so much under the surface....

I guess every family has its...challenges. It took me a while to understand (and not judge) the different personalities in this story. I felt they were probably pretty true to what I believe was the author's vision. I cannot imagine the betrayal all of this family felt but they were certainly open to seeing a different path for themselves. And when they did? Things were more-better-er all around. Good story.

RC does it again

I’m pretty sure I’ve never met a Robyn Carr boom I didn’t love and this was no exception.
