Delightful Family Christmas Tale

Seriously, what's not to like about this book?! We have a loyal older dog, a stray puppy, a grumpy grandpa finding love the second time around, a family in crisis who has a true Christmas miracle. Bring on all the feels.

A Dog's Perfect Christmas by W. Bruce Cameron consists of lawyer Mom Juliana who gave up her career to be a stay at home mom for her 3 year old boy twins but gets no help from over worked over stressed Dad Hunter. Their young teenage daughter Ello is just mad at the world until she meets a cute boy who happens to be the son of her Dad's boss! Then there is Grandpa who can't get over the death of his wife and only finds companionship with his loving dog Winstead.

When Juliana suffers a health crisis the family will have to work together to stay together and, hopefully, not have to cancel Christmas. Maybe abandoned puppy Ruby will be an inspiration.

Narrator Ann Marie Lee does a remarkable job portraying a teenage girl all the way to a grandpa. In the author's previous books, A Dog's Purpose series, the emphasis was on how the dogs viewed the family but this latest novel is more about the family and a little bit how the dogs interpret the events around them. So more humans less dogs in this story.

This story was just what I needed to chase the Christmas blues away. I listened to this audio book, which is just a little over 4 hours, in one night and fell asleep dreaming of happy puppies.

I received a free copy of this book from MacMillan Audio for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.
