Love this book, but.....

I bought this book for my 3 year old granddaughter. The book has a mix of fairy tales and nursery rhymes. The illustrations are beautiful and the stories are not too long. As a former early childhood teacher, and now a Nana, I know my books. My ONLY reservation is the story of Rapunzel, in the 3 year old book. It's sort of a scary story for 3 year old, especially if you're not fond of wicked witches. But, maybe that's just me. All in all, I love this series, and will go back to get Books 2 and 4. I didn't see a Book 1.

Not woke

Bought this for my little buddy; I’m always concerned when I get books nowadays just how much work brainwashing will be inside, but I read him a few stories and flipped through the rest and didn’t notice any of the usual agenda. Breath of fresh air

Some content not appropriate for 3 year olds

I agree that some of the items in this book are not things I want to teach to my 3 year old. Why couldn’t they use the ‘G’ rated version of Three Blind Mice that I hear when I request Alexa to play this song? In this book the poem/song talks about cutting off tails, which goes against my constant teaching of be respectful to living things. The Rapunzel story tells about a witch stealing a new baby from its parents as well as a man being blinded, so these are some scary things to talk about at this age. I really like the art and graphics, but I do not like some of the stories.

A little higher level for 3 year olds

Parents, Grandparents be aware that stories in this book are emotionally advanced for a three year old. About half of the stories made my grandson tear up and it took some time for me to try to explain that these are fables which are designed to give a lesson...... The stories for 2 year olds was a wonderful book and appropriate for the age and mental ability of a 2 year old. I will be returning this book.

Not what I hoped for

This book is pretty and nicely put together. However, it’s not what I was wanting or looking for. I expected multiple short stories for bedtime. It’s actually 4 very repetitive stories (Chicken Little being drug out for 24 pages, for example) and then 6 nursery rhymes like 3 Blind Mice and the first part of Hickory Dickory Dock. My three year old was bored and disappointed with it, as was I.
If I had been able to look through this book before buying I would have passed on it.

Content was disturbing!

Was going to give this book to my 3 year old grandson until I read some of the nursery rhymes. One talked about someone becoming blind, one talked about an injury. Needless to say I didn’t give him the book!

Only partially good

I loved the Stories for 2 Year Olds book, but this one is definitely not as good. Fewer stories and the stories that are included are often odd choices. As others mentioned, the Rapunzel story is definitely not adapted for the age group. Its not really understandable to a 3 year old, at best, and potentially scary, at worst. I have to leave a lot of parts out, like the prince getting blinded by scratching his eyes on thorns. One bad story wouldn’t be a terrible deal, except it’s one of only a few main stories and the rest are short nursery rhymes. So in these books, when the main stories aren’t good, it’s basically a waste. I kept it, but I wouldn’t have bought it at all had I read it first.

Horrible book!

These stories might be advised for a 3 year old, but NO WAY. I bought it for my 3 yo twin grandchildren and almost every single story was some evil fairytale embellished to the max with evil looking drawings in dark colors. So unnecessary. Especially for that age. I threw the book away in the trash. This book should not even be for sale. I knew it would do nothing but scare those children. There are so many excellent books out there and I’m a huge children’s book buyer and reader. Even children know how to discriminate and tell a good book from a bad one.
