A Dark Mafia Romance.

As an ARC reader I received a free copy of this book and promised an honest review. Here it is.

Rating: 4,5 (of 5 stars).

In general: A dark mafia romance.

Main characters:
- Dahlia Hadid (26).
When she was a baby her mother shoved her in the arms of a
preacher in a mosque, told him the name of the baby and ran away.
Later she only knew that she had Lebanese roots and was raised by
different foster parents.
Now she’s a freelance editor and a part time DEA agent.
- Vladimir ‘Vlad’ Vitalli (33). One of the most important leaders of the Cosa Nostra mafia in New York. He inherited this position from his father who had trouble to accept that his leadership was ended. At the start of the book Vlad is brought into prison.

Some time before Vlad was arrested, Dahlia investigated human trafficking and was kidnapped by Vlad. She was a hostage in his mansion and they fell in love. Vlad ’s father, the retired mafia boss, saw Dahlia only as an exotic beauty to make money with. So he sold her as a sex slave to a rival mafia boss, Salvi Moretti, for 5 million dollars.
Dahlia was saved by Vlad, who caged and tortured his father as punishment. Salvi escaped during her rescue and the DEA wants Dahlia to investigate the Moretti mafia organization to arrest him.
The author, Beena Khan, creates a dark, original and complicated mafia romance about Dahlia’s investigation. Complicated, because it’s not only a description of a suspenseful DEA undercover operation, but the author also gives a deep insight in the very variable emotions of the main characters. It’s a compelling mixture of feelings like love, hate, cruelty (both physically and mentally) and betrayal the main persons in the story have for each other. Sometimes this reader thought that Dahlia had a bit of unbelievable great confidence in her ability to successfully complete her investigation without risks for her own safety. But all in all the novel was for me an exciting page turner, hard to stop reading.

A dark fairytale!

A Beast So Cold was a difficult read, but a rewarding one.

Khan writes with her usual emotional prowess, bringing us back into Dahlia’s life after Vlad has been imprisoned and she begins trying to bring down another Don. I thought Dahlia had gone through a lot in the first book but her trials and suffering were nothing compared to this book.

I struggled multiple times to continue this book because it was so hard to watch Dahlia go through such horrible things. My heart constantly ached for her and without the offset of Vlad caring for her in the first half of the book, I feared I wasn’t going to be able to continue. But once Vlad and Dahlia are reunited, things finally turned around and I was so happy to see them together again.

Khan shows her skill writing a plethora of tragedies in this dark fairytale. It is definitely a great read but be careful if you are easily triggered.

Dark, Dangerous, and Deadly!

Such a stunning conclusion to Vlad and Dahlia’s love story. This book is much darker than the first, and there are much heavier issues discussed. The incredibly complicated journey we take in this book is so well written, and so beautifully tragic. The secrets we learn, will make you gasp out loud. The well executed twists and unexpected turns, will leave you on the edge of your seat.

very dark mafia romance

I was given a free copy of this book and I decided to give it an honest review.
This is the Second book in this duo logy, I have read the first (loved it), while I believe reading the first will give a better understanding of this story, I do not believe it is strictly necessary. The author does a great job of catching the reader up without massive data dumps. Be warned though, the first book is dark, but this book is darker. I dislike, when I am told a book is dark, and find out the author has no concept of what the word dark means. This is not the case. You have been warned, this story has some very dark moments. Beena Khan has thrown some romance novel rules out the window but she gets away with it because of it being a dark mafia romance, though it still has the HEA.
Next is the characters. Dahlia is the female love interest. I don't dislike Dahlia, I just don't love her. She is competent and takes initiative. I understand why she does the things she does with her background. I admire the fact that she doesn't allow the traumatic events of her past to stop her from taking chances. But I LOVE Vlad. Whenever he is on the page, he steals the attention from everyone else. He is the focal point of every scene he is in. I wish there was more of him. If you like dark romances, you should give this a try.

This is the conclusion to the story of Vlad and Dahlia which picks up at the ending of the first book. (Dahlia betrays Vlad). While Vlad contemplates his revenge upon Dahlia, the DEA assigns her to bring down a rival don, Salvi Moretti. Dahlia keeps thinking about what she has done to Vlad.
This is such a page turner that honestly just consumes your time!
This dark and emotional read has complex characters and a storyline with drama, guilt, twists/turns, deception, and steamy passion.

Very dark and intense mafia romance

This is the follow up story of Dahlia and Vlad. Dahlia had betrayed her beast because of her job but she realizes that no matter what he has done she has fallen in love with him. When she realizes her next assignment is non other than the mob boss who had bought her at an auction and assaulted her which caused her to trigger from her childhood trauma. She knows what will be involved but can’t believe that the more time she spends with him that he actually does care about her and didn’t mean to traumatize her. After she puts him in jail, she decides she has to go see Vlad and ask for his forgiveness. When a riot breaks out, who will save her? The scenes are very intense and may cause triggers. Still a very good book.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I really enjoyed this book. This is the second book and it picks up right where book 1 left off. Dhalia is DEA and she goes uncover to capture a mafia boss. I love the mafia aspect of it. I love there was dual POV. I love the chemistry between Dhalia and Vald. I love that Dhalia a awesome job.
